O's take 2 from Tribe Ubited Beats Fire

The O's outscored the Tribe by alot in this series but manged only a spli as the games were 5-4 and 5-3 Tribe wins and 13-4 5-2 wins by the Birds the total Birds 25 Tribe 16 so nine more runs for the home team. Tillman pitched 5 allowed 1 yesterday and Nick hit an rbi double Moeller a HR and Izturis hit a rbi triple but Ray allowedd a 3 run homer ending his streak of scolress innings asme as Kam, Bass also gave up a run in2 innings Cla a scolress frame. In the finale Matusz wnet 7 strong innings allowing just one run on a ball that Jones should have caught but he glance towards the wall to see hopw much room he had and lost the ball and it went for a truiple but could have been an out. Still a great outing from Brian matusz. he wins it and is now 3-2 and had 8 Ks. Baez allowed a run in the 8th and Johnson a scorless ninth striking out the fianl batter for his 7th save and that man that homered off him struck out Marte. The offense was a B Rob infield hit scored Ty Felix Pie drove him and Brob in a deep opposited field shot into the bullpen. Luke Scott double in another and the Birds put up 4 in the 3rd. Ty was sent ona nother Brob hit but got thrown out at the plate after colliding woith the catcher idf eh slid he prolly would have been safe,. Brob hit a sac fly later to score Witers who i feel needs to be faster. Ubnited scored an early goal in the 11th when Gomez sent a free kick into the box and Namoff came in and flicked it with his head to score his 2nd of the year but united had many good chances to net one the best maybe an Olsen flick after a cross and apass that he sent just wide that could have made it 2-0. But a second consectuive SO by WIcks and DC gets the full 3 points on the road and is just a 1 point from gaining a playoff spot they face Dallas at 8 in Texas and if United wins that one they will likl;ey have a spoyt in the playoffs at least for the time being until more matches occur. A strange thing happened when WIcks confrointed his teammate Burch after Burch collided with another teammate Burch didnt want to hear and shoved WIcks and the WIcks grabbed him and shook him up a little really starbnge to see teammates fighting thats a first for me. Yanks come to camden Yards and Game 1 is Guthriw vs petiet. Hope the Birds are ready to give oit all they got and prove they can win games and series vs top teams.

O's Pound tribe Skins fall Short

The Birds crushed the Tribe behind 3 hit games by NIck Matt and Felix Nick hits 16th HR 3 run shot Felix a solo one his 6th HR. Birds win 13-4 Berken wins 4th goes 5 allowing 2 Hendsickopsn 2 scorless Kam 1 inning 1 Er Merdith same as Kam. Witers a rbi souble a 2 rbi single and another rbi single 4rbi total Nick 3rbi adn Pie 3 rbi. Wigginton rbi single Izturis rbi single BRob rbi groundout that's 13 Birds cruise amnd im willing to bet they will outscore the Tribe in this series as they have often done in the 2nd half and they don't even have wo win either of the other 2 games. SKin look great vs pats as the gain more total yards 277-384 had 3 takeawyas pick by Barnes go Terp a pick by Landry and a fumble reocvred by Westbrook. Carter had a sack as did WIlson. Cambell 13-22 209 yds a 90.9 passer rating keep that up during the games that count and this will be a playoff team Brennan a nice TD to 7th rounder Marko Mitchell but a pick 6 at the goaline geez Colt why take your team to first and goal just to throw a pick those really stink. Cambell ran for a TD 5 yds and Mason scored from the goaline but the Redskins had to kick a FG on 3rd down at the end of the first half due to a costly falsestart penalty speasking of penaltoies the SKins had 15 and that makes it very diffcult to wina game. London 9 tkls Orakpo 6yckls. Suisham missed a 51 yareder with plenty of leg but wide left. Skins should have won they played better got more yards and more TOs 3-1 and more sacks. O;s fdall to Tribe

The Birds led this one late but a leaky pen made them lose and got ink all over there hands. Baez allowed a run in an inning and Johnosn gave up a 2 run shot that had it hung up a little longer Nolan could have caught but it was a line drive that just got over the fence down the line O's lopse 5-4. Mora hit his 5th HR a solo job as did Witers 5th HR a solo shot Scott doubled in a run and just missed a HR and Izturis hit a ball when a bad throw to first allowed a run. Hernandez pitched strong allowing 2 ER in 6 innings. Ray a scorless 7th and i told you about baez and HJohnson. Both teams had 10 hits O's pitching had 6 Ks 3 BB. Tommorow's starters are Carmona 3-8 5.92 ERA vs Berken 3-11 6.49 and the SKins host New ENgland ina preseason game. O's drop the opener of this four game set.

O's win Finalie vs Twins

The O's came out and dominated this one and because of there 5-1 win they end up outscoring the Twins for the series but still drop 2 out of three a recurring theme for the hard luck Birds in the post ALl star game play. Guthrie another greta start allowing 1 run in 7 innings and there was a time when i dint think he would make it out the sicth but he made his pitches and 5 Ks 6 hits 0BB and he wins it and is now 9-12 and they way he is pitching now he can be a better than .500 pitcher but he will have to do it vs some real good teams with those AL EATS poweres on the horizon. Baez a scorelesss 8th Jomhsnon a scorless 9th and this bullpen recently has been the ebst in the AL just not giving up runs right now and yesterady im amzaed that Kam gave that one run up but hey hes still been greta relif for a team that leads the league in bullpen innings. Reimold hit an infield single that scored 2 after a bad throw. Pie homered to the deepest part center solo his 5th HR. Moeller doubled in a run that should have scored two but Aubrey was picked off at second then Moeller walked with the bases loaded a thing the Twins did alot of in this series and that was the Birds 5 runs and they win 5-1 and outscored the Twins by 2 in the three games. Next up CLeveland visots Cameden Yards as Laffey 7-3 3.42 ERA faces Hernandez 4-6 4.35 ERA and ythe Indians are Aubrey's first team so amybe he has a big series vs theem. LET'S GO O'S beat those iNDians and get as many wins and runs as possible.

O's lose to Twins

Birds lose the first two both by a run thhis time 7-6. matusz 5.1 allowing 3 but left with the lead the Birds at one point led 6-3 but Brian Bass got in a huge jam and allowed 3 ER without getting an out but Hendrickson did well to minimize the damage but the Twins tued it at6 then the scored the winning run bittom of the ninth vs Mickolio who pitched 1.2 allwoing his firts ER his ERA .79 Hendrixkson a scolress inning as did Ray and Kam really wanted this thing to go to bonus basebaklk but a single scored the run. Aubrey had a 2 run double Izturis singled him in Aubrey walked with the bases loaded as did WIters and Scott singled in a run. Tonights pitching matup Guthrie 8-12 5.45 ERA vs Balckburn 8-8 4.27 ERA. Guthriew is vcoming off a greta perfomance and it would be real nice to see him have backup to back great outings.

O's lose to Twins

In there final visit to the Twinkie dome a new outdoor field will be ready next season the Birds fall 2-1 behind a strong outing from Tillman. His one mistake a ball hit for a leaodff triple if he ges an out there things could have remained 1-0 with the Nirds winning. he went 5.1 2 Er Hendrickson his usual .1 allowing a sac fly on a batter he had to strikes on and a K would have been very helpful. Meridith 1.1 scorless Ray a scorless inning and he has been spectacular since being called up from AAA. Rpberts hit his 48th double to score Aubrey but that was it for the OS offense and BRob is threyening to hit 60 twobvaggers. That would be a team record which he already holds at 51 but could easily top that by alot. The Birds had 2 on in the ninth but Witers truck out on a 3-2 slider. Tommorows starers Matusz 2-2 6.75ERA vs Gabino his first start of the year maybe the Birds rough him up and make up for there lack of offense in tghis one.

The O's had a good day opfensivley 12 hits 5 runs and got to mark Buerle earl;y and often. Jones drilled a single down the line that scored Roberts but tweaked his back on a HR swing earlier in the AB. and ;eft fopr Pie who would sontribute nicley hitting his 4th HR a solo shot. Pie hit a sac fly to score Roberts. Reimold hit his 12th a 2 run shot with Nick on base and finally P{ie's blast. BRob had 3 hits in 4 tries. Nick 2 hits Nolan 2 hits Matt 2 hits and the O's wanted more in the 1st but could get just the one. The good news is that 5 was enough to win as Berken pithced real well get this it should have benn 2 outs in the first when ANdino couldnt handle a routine grounder then Mora sailed a throw wide that allowed a run to score and a man to reahc second the first 2 gorund balls 2 errors but Berken would not allow ant more in that defsnless 1st inning. he would pitch 5.2 allowing 2 ER and 3 R but would pick up the W and lower his ERA Mickolio stays pergfect out of the pen pithcing 1.1 scorless Beaz a sxcolress inning and Johnson the save al;lowing 1 ER but just that and he gets his 6th save. Newxt up for the Birds a trip to Minnesota and game starters are Tillman 1-1 4.80ERA vs Baker 11-7 4.62 ERA. Birds win the series 2-1 and get theoir foirst sereies win in 11 tries since the break. PS Playing in the Twinkie dome is the best and wouldnt TWinkie be a good sponsor for the Twins.

SKins Beat Pittsburgh United Draws Birds lose

The SKins behind the strebngth of 2 Chase Daniel TDs beat Steelers 17-13. Marko Mitchell caught a 3 yrad dafe went up high and pulled it in in bounds greta catch and throw. Fred Davis caused a fumble on a punt returrn then caught a 18 yard TD the next play. Chase went 6-8 58 yards 2 TDs no INt. DOrsey looked like a capalbe punt returner and RB. Barnes and Tryon were making plays this week. Orakpo got a sack and just missed another one as Batch got away from him. Jason went 1-7 10 yard pass to Cooley but was throwing the ball away alot which is always better than taking a sack. 3 throw ways. Brennan threw a pick in the redzone late and Collins threw a pick aswell so Daniel had the best game QB wise. Daniel also had a 22 yard scramble so he may make this team matbe him and Colt saty and Collins gets relesed still too early to tell./ Portis had a good game 5 rushes 26 yards. Mason alaso had a goo game but i dont know if he can take Betts job. davis 2 catshes 31 yards Mitchell 3 catches 21 yards kelly 2 catches 22 yards. GAnone caught a 20 yard pass and Hackett caughta 15 uyarfd pass. Cool,.ey 1 for 10 Mason 2 for 8 Eloi one for 8 Williams 1 for 7 Devin one for 7. SKins win 13-17 but got stopped on the 2 on there opening drive as Betts caould not get the 1 yard needed. Dc United playes LA but neither team could score Namoff blocked lA best chance as Donovan was in close and shot but namoff bklocked it and kicked it waya. Wuaranta had a good chance but hit it high and some crosses were finding heads but usually the header went right to the goalie no greta save necessary. The O's beat up on Chicago last night on the strength of 2 Brian Roberts HRs a solo shot his 13th and a 2 run shoy his 14th. Guthriew pitched 7 innings allowing 1 run a solo shot by Thoime and won his 8th has lost 12. makakis hit a rbi triple that would have scored 2 but a double steal went bad as both runners got laste jumps WIgginton singled in Nick and 5-1 was your final. Baez pitched a scorless 8th adn ray a scorless 9th. O's played real well and won the opner. Tonight Hernadez 4-5 4.20 ERA goes vs Danks 10-8 3.96 Era. ALso skins play Pittsburgh and United goes vs LA.

O's Beat Tampa in slugfest

This one started off low scoring but late inning rallies by both teams light up the socreboard. Matusz was great until a 3 run homer brought the game too close for comfort but this was after BRob blasted his 12th HR this one the best homer you can hit a GRAND SLAM!! Nolan would however relive the Birds but not coming in from the bullpen as he belted his 11th hR a 3 run blast. Izturis got the other rbi a groundout. Matusz 5.1 allowing 4 7 Ks though was great. Mickolio contuinued his dominance as he went 1.2 allowing no runs and keeps his ERA at 0.00. Now that's being effective relief. Baez would allow 3 runs none ER as Pena would bloop in 2. he wnet.1 as did Hendrickson then Johnson came in and shit the door as he struck out Evan Longoria for the final out his 5th save. 8-7 your final and the Birds get the win in a high socring AL EAST Battle/Slugfest. Now on to Chicago to face the Palehose. Guthrie 7-12 5.66 ERA will face FLoyd 10-7 3.94 ERA.

The O's lose another series and i dont think they have one win after the all star break. Tillman goes six allowing 3 ER all solo HRs. BRob hit his 11th a solo HR and that was ll the scoring. O's Lose 2 one vs L:A 1 in Tampa

The O's have not gotten what they wanted in the last two starts from their rookies both started well but neded poorly allowing the HR. David hernandez pitched 5.1 giving up 5. Meridith allowed a 3 run homer but Ray was good again showing his old form going 1.1 scorless and Bass 1 scorelss. The positives Markakis blasted another one his 15th a solo HR and Mora added his 4th a 2 run blast. Jones got a ground our rbi and Markakis doubled in another run and seemilingy if you hit a double you will hit a HR if your an O. FInal 8-5 La wins the series 3-1 and they have the best offense in the AL with many of there hitters well over the .300 mark and a lot of threats in there lineup Guerrero i feel the biggest cuz he always hits the long ball vs the O's and they really wanna toughen up on him. In Tampa there were positves to look at. Berken struck out Longoria and WIters threw out the league leader in steals Carl Crawford on a greta strike em out throw em out DP. Witers touched off a bomb another opposite filed shot deep and out in the power alley near center his 4th HR. Jones isngled a run in and balsted a deep double off the base of the center field wall Reimold singled in a run as well in a 2 run inning but Mora flew out with the Birds threatening but the final is 5-4 tampa taking game 1 in there home park and i se why this team was AL Champs last year they have a greta lineup and there young top draft pick david Pryce was on his ga,me and i bet Mora really wishes he could have kept that ining going for at least one more run. Jones 2 hits Markakis 3 now batting .309 and he is hot at the plate right now Reimold also added 2 hits. Noick had his 4th steal and i think he should run more and have way more steals cuz i see that go get to balls in the outfield real fast so he shopuld be more of a threat to steal. Roberts also had a steal his 25th and that guy is real fast. Jones had asoulble as did Nolan 22nd and 14th. Watching Noick i fail to see how he is not in the ALlSTar game regualrly but he should be their next year along with Jones, Moichakle Aubrey got a pimnch hit single in his first AB with the Birds and is batting 1.000 and with Huff being traded for RHP Brett Jacobson Aubrey got see significant time if he proves he can hit with Mora and Ty splitting the time at third neither one of them hitting very well but Mora is rally surprising to me considering the 2nd half he had last year where he was hitting everything and had good power numbers but 4 HRs that is starnge. Tonuight;'s pitching matchup Tillman 1-0 with a 4.88 ERa vs Niemann 3.86 and is 10-5. Should be a good one Go Birds.

O's lose 13 inning marathon th AMNgels

The Birds lost this one but not due to lack of an offense. A bad start from until this year was a very good top of the roataion Guthrie pitched 5.2 allowing 7 runs ouch. Hendiskcoson got 1 out .1 no runs. ray pithced 2 allowing 1 Baez a scorles innoibng Johnson 2 scotrless innings. Bass hammered for 4 in 1 inning and ALbers who has been lousy recently after a strong first half allwed 5 in 1 inning. The positives Roberts hit his 10th HR a 2run shot Luke hit his 20th HR a solo and Markakis hit his 14th HR a 2 reun shot. Brian also hit his 45th double most in the amjors. Witers singked home the 7th run and Jones lifted a fkly ball to the top of the fense would have gone over but it was caught roighta t the top of the fesnce had it gone over it woiuld have benn 9-8 Birds game over but instead Roberts who had stole 3rd scored and tied it up at 8. that Roberts steal was his 24th amnd he is very succesful when he decides to run only being caught 6 times. FInale tommorw O's go for a split withj david Hernandez who has a knack for quaklity starts he goes vs Snatana who has a 6.38 ERA and is 5-6 David is 4-4 with a 3.81 ERA.

The O's scored many mmnay runs in this one racking up 16 runs on 19 hits and had a monster 7 run 7th while ANgels only manged 6 runs. Felix Pie hit the cycle and had a huge day. Roberts had 3 doubles and the O's kept getting hits and scoring runs. Tillman pitched 6.2 aloowing 3 ER and Lbers had a off game but Ray pitched well going a scolress ninth whoile ALbers allowed 2 ER. O's win big and ser a season high in hits and runs.

Birds had a rough go of things today a costly throwing error that gave the A's 2 bases and a run on a steal attempt and 2 deep balls out to the center field wall both by Jones that were caught i mean giveem a double at leats but baseball is not so kind. Berken pithced 5 allowing 3ER and could have came out for the sixth which he should have but Trembley trusted his shaky bullpen which has gootne rocked after the deprartuer of SHerill. The positives Huff hit a 2 run homer his 13th and Witers slapped a ball to center that wickeldy hopped away from the center fielder but instread of getting credirted witha triple WIters gets and rbi single after Scott doubled and the outfielder gets an error on an extremley diffixcutly play i mean noone would have made that play. Bass pitches 2 scoprless Hendrickson 1 inn allowing 1 and Merdith 1inn allowing 1 so your final 6-3 O's lose thes reies 2-1 and face LA at Camden follwoing thursdays off day.

Gutghire had a bad strart going 4.2 allowing five and Scott his hit 19th HR but O's lose 9-1. 2nd game David Hernanadez pitches real welll allowing 2 runs in 6.2 both on solo HRs. Mora gets a rbit when the ball hits off the bottom of his bat and Roberts singles ina run in adn Jones grounds out for a rbi and the BIrds win 3-2. ALbers gets an out Bzea the 8ths ovcrless and Johnson his 4th savce and things got dicy when Mora tripped upa little but still got the out ona real close play but the Birds win.

O's fall to Toronto

Chris Tillman made his best sytart of the year only 3 tries thus far as he went 6.2 allowing 2 the runs coming on a Rios HR after a walk which ended up bad for the rook. But that was all he gave up and the Birds tied the game after an infield single by Jones a deep double to center hitting near the top of the wall by Huff and a double down the line by Reimolld tied things up at 2-2. It would go into extra innnings but the Birds with ample opps to score never got that third run and that's unfrotumnate becaise the Jays would get that 3rd run in the 10th of Baez who seems to be giving up that costly ruin late in games. Mereith worked a soclress inning and has a 2.25 ERA so he's been good Hendrickson got thte only out he was asked to get and Baez allowed 1 in 1.1. The opps I was talking about was a runner on third with less than 2 outs for WIters who popped out to shallow left now if he drives that ball somewhere fathrer into the outfield the Birds win this one 3-2 instead of losing it by the same socre. ALso in the 10th Nick led off with a double off the base of the wall but he was starnded and then they had no moree opps to score. Series tied at 1 with the Birds outscoring the Jays thus far 9-8 Baltimore outhit the Jays again today 9-8 but could not get the much needed RISP hits which they led the league in the first half seoncd half a whole differnt story so that is what they need to get back to doing as they face a tough rmeianing schedule facing the LAQ East a number of times. The rubber gaem tommorow the impressive rookie lefty for the O's Matusz and the Jays ace Roy Halladay. SHould be a lowsocring pitcher's duel and whoever musters the extra big hit or two should win that one.

O's Lose to MOtown beat Jays

Hernandez got ruffed up a little in the finale in Detroit but Berken pitched well in the opner in Toronto and won for just the first time since his debut and went 6 innings allowing 3 runs 2 of them solo HR. The O's outhit the Jays 9-8 and really should have been 10 but a double smashed down the line by Nick was called an error ona really difficult play for the 1B but the homegtown scorers are always biased and l;ike Buck Martinez said that's how you keep your pitcher's ERA low. Berken did a great job getting out of a jam after Nolan missed played a line drive mopved in instead of toward the wall and that cost the O's but with runners on 2nd and third Lind gounede top first with the infield in and roberts covered first because Berken did not. Then got the l;ast out and set the side down in order in the 6th after the O's gave hoima a lead. after the Markakis hit or error Huff isngled then Nolan grounded in to a fieldr's schjoice but the run scored. 4-3 Birds. Then reimold singled off the pitcher's glove if he had not tipped it it prolly would have gone fdor an out. Wigginton singled in a run and IWters doubled to the gap socring another 7-3 O's. ALbers would pitch 1.1 allowing 2 runs after he let 2 in the 8th but Ray would allwo a single hit then get the 2 outs so .2 for Ray no runs and Johnson would get the save in the 9th allowin 0 runs hios 3rd save. Breken had 6 Ks and really threw a mean slider with 2 strikes dangling it at the bottom of the zone then it would spin down out of the rewache of the swinging misses. O's win 7-5 but face lefty from UMD Cecil and then Hallayday pitchers who beat the O's earlier in the uyear Cecil a rookie as is Romero who loses his 5th vs 10 wins so the O's facing the Jays best pitchers in this sereis and think the Jays would still be hotly contending for thw AL EAST just as the top three are doing if there star starter AJ Burnett was still with them and not pitching in the Bronx but you say star starter and you know Geroge is trying to pry him out of your garsp.

The O's have outscored Detroit by 3 thus far in the series but they are down 2-1. This one heads to the 8th with Guthrie having opnly allowed a solo HR but he allows 2 men to rach and leaves after 7.1. Hendrickson gets Granderson and Meridith then allows Placido a hit that scores to after the runners advanced. He would then allow another run 4-0 he allows a run in .1 not good Guthrie allows 3. Then reimold gets hit and Jones walks up and demoilishes one over the left field wall a 2 run shot 4-2 his 19th leads the team. Huff laces a hit Scott wa;ks and Zaughn gets it to 3-2 with a wa;k or a hit makes things alot closer but he looks at strike 3 and game over.

A couple of United games and O's games

United lost a shootout in Houston 4-3 Fred fired a long range rocket low far post EMilio had a high header of a ball that spenta long tiem in the 18 year box and he shota ablal that bounced offa defender's foot and in but it wasn't enough tneh DC beat Firpo to advance 1-1 in PK SO 5-4 as one Firpo wnet over the bar with his attempt. IN O's news Tillman was givena 5 run lead but couldn't hold it as the O's scored 5 in thef irst off Verlander a CY Yopung cnadidate but eventuially Tillamn would allow 5 and Baez would give a walkoof up with2 outs and 2 strikes in the 9th. The Briian Matusz made his first start and allowdd just 1 run in 5 innings and won his debut as 4 other O's have Berken Brad Koji and David. O's Lose to BoSOx

The O's fell althoough they held a late lead after Huff bombed a 2 run hoemr over the center field wall his 12th. Reimold added a 2 run homer his 10th but Guthrie who pitched 6.2 allowed a 2 run homer for Boston who took the lead for good as he allowed 6 runs a real shaky start. Roberts had the other rbi on an infield single. Guithroie has allowed the most HR s of any pitcher this year and ythe long ball hurt him in this one 3 more allowed ouch. Brad Bergesen went on the DL after being hit by that line drive.
