O's Pound Pale Hose in Finale

The O's caught clutch hits 3 long balls and great pitching as Liz pitched well enough to win and that's exactly what the Birds did 11-3. Brian Roberts scored two with a 2 out single and Castro did the same and satked the Birds to a 6-2 lead. Then Mora went deep his 23rd. Liz pitched 5 2/3 giving up just 2. Nick Markakis had his league leading 15th outfield assist gunning down Jim Thome trying for 2 on a ball smashed off the wall. Cormier pitched 2 allowing just one run and Rocky Cherry held down the ninth with a huge lead and pitched a scorless inning. Alberto Castillo got the out he was brought in to record and is turning into a fine lefty out of the pen. Liz is now 5-3. Aubrey Huff went deep with Mora on first his 29th and Millar followed his shot with a shot of his own a solo dinger his 19th but Millar has had some deep balls go just foul on him otherwise he would have more long balls. The O's next face AL East elading Tampa Bay in a series the Birds should look to do good in. Starts on Friday through Sunday. Can the Birds help the Redssox and beat up on the Rays we'll see.

Games 1-2 vs Chicago

Chris Waters took a positive step in trying to stay in the roration but Brian Burress did not. Tonight Radhames LIZ tries to stay in as well going vs the White Sox. Hopefully Waters and Liz can pitch well the rest of the season and try to earn staring spots going into 09 well Buress and Sarfate and Olson have not succeded. The white sox won games 1 and 2 and go for the sweep tonight. The O's are looking to have strong starting and bullpen pitching and need to go on the offensive with the bats. Can Liz perform well enough to gain respect as a starter. We'll see tonight as he toes the rubber in Camden.

Redskins Panthers SKins plead no contest and USA b-ball Wins Gold

The Us edged SPain while the SKins edged not playing hard vs Carolina. One aspect of the name that showed was their ability to sack quarterbacks on the blitz with the rush. No run defense however as it appeared the SKins did not want to risk injury after Jason Taylor gave every single Skins fan a near heart attack after being diagnosed witha minor knee sprain. He shouldm be ready to go by the opener vs the Giants who are defending Super bowl champs but I think a much weaker offense without Jeremy Shockey. USA beat Spain in a hotly contested game and held on mainly due to a foutr point play by Kobe. Congardualtions USA and get ready for the opener Skins because you need to set a positive tone for the season and a win vs NY would do just that.

Game 2-3 vs NY close but no cigar

The Birds got swept by those Yankees and my were the games right down to the wire. Guthrie was no good in his start and neither was Cabrera and that's why they lost. The long ball was hit by Mora Roberts and Huff in game 3 but they lost 8-7 and 9-4 after trailing by one late in game 2. The Birds just could not get the much needed runs in the late stages and fell short vs NY. Too bad. Now they ,must snap back into form and play Chicago. They won the suspended game 4-3 with Rocky Cherry getting the final three outs and Cormier and Castillo comibining to blacnk the Palehose and get the W. Waters pitches tonight and he is 2-1.

Game 1 vs NY painful loss for Birds

Game 1 IN cAMDEN vs the damn yankees was not supposed to end like it did. The O's led after 2 RBI nights from Ramon and Huff and a solo shot from Ramon and almost a 3 run shot from Ramon. Then the Yanks came back twice hitting back to back homeruns. Liz pitched almost effectivley giving up 3 runs in 4 2/3. The pen was awful twice getting rocked in the 8th an 9th. This loss is due to the loss of George Sherill becaise if Johnson had pitched the 8th he would have given Sherill a save situation most likely because Johnson has had a career year. Skins play tonight while Guthrie goes for the Birds and early morning activity is the gold medal game USA vs Spain who they already beat by 37 and should won big again. When Pau Gasol is your big weapon you won't beat the USA. I gurantee it: Gold for the USA and the great games they have had always winnibng by at least 20 and having a chance to go 8-0 in Bejing. They will.

Finale vs Boston Big W for Birds

The O's really took it to Boston in the finale and their starter Clay BUcholz and numerous bullpen pitchers while the O's pen was outstanding. The O's trailed in this one early 4-0 but chipped away and then while down 3-4 Ramon Hernandez hit a 3 run bomb to center which gave the O's a 6-4 lead one they would hold on to and increase. Later Melvin Mora came to bat with Roberts and Markais on and he hit a three run homer to the left bleachers. Chris Waters pitched 5 innings and got the win giving up 4 ER while Bucholz left after 2 1/3. Sarfate pitched 2 scorless innings and newly called up Kam Mickolio pitched 1 inning and gave up 1 run. Then Jim Johnson pitched a scorless ninth to ensure victory for the Birds. Next up the Yankees who the O's have beat soundly this year and lead the season series 8-6. Liz reurns to the roataion and hopefully he will end the season strong to earn considerations to stay in that rotation. Tough task facing those Bronx Bombers though but I have faith in Liz because he has had some very strong starts. Series starts Friday for a three game set as NY visits the friendly confines of Camden Yards.

Games 1 and2 vs Boston

Two consecutive losses to Boston has really hurt the O's. Game 1 featured great games from ace Jeremy Guthrie and Aubrey Huff who hit his 27th and almost got number 28 but ended up with a double off the wall. Lester pitched great for Boston and they won 6-3. Huff had all 3 Rbi for the Birds. Boston had 3 homeruns 2 by newly aquired Jason Bay who appears to be Manny Ramirez without the dreadlocks. Game 2 was not a good outing from the big righty Cabrera who struggled and the Birds only tariling by one could not get any closer and ended losing 7-2 allowing 2 homeruns and not hitting any long balls. Waters goes tommorow for the Birds who will fetaure a couple new starters as Olson and Sarfate move to the pen where hopefully they can pitch less and better. They face a struggling stareer in Clay Bucholz who hopefully they can score early adn often and rake the finale vs Boston. Waters has had two good goes and a bad outing and I think he should do well in this very high pressure situation. The O's need a win badly and I believe they will win the finale.

O's earn series win vs Detroit Redskins 3-0

Well i had to miss the middle game of the Detroit series to view the Skins game but the Birds lost 5-3 while the Skins won 13-10. Jason Campbell had a bad day but there were some bad missed calls by officials and that negated a couple of great catches by Moss and Thomas the rookie. Sarfate had another bad outing and might be out of the rotation and back in the bullpen. Skins backs did very well even though Portis sat out. Rock Cartwright had a huge 73 yard run but that was later a drive where Devine threw a pick. Mason impressed again rushing 9 times for 55 yards 6.1 Avg. Betts had 6 carries for 34 yards 5.7 Avg. Colt Brennan threw the go ahead strike to former College Parker Jason Goode who i think has talent and could make the team. Mann and Mcmullen are fighting for spots and bothe did pretty well. The Skins defense was huge allowing only 10 and most of that was on a drive that started real close to the end zone due to unsportsman like conduct on Thomas for failing to come back in bounds on the punt. Favre did throw a TD in this one but the new look Jets could not hold on. Now for the Birds finale in which they just pounded the baseball and won despite another poor outing from a starter this time Garrett Olson gievn the quick hook after only 1 2/3. The Birds hit 5 count em 5 homeruns and stomped the Tigers 16-8. Luke Scott belted 2 one 3 runner and 1 solo. Mora had a solo and a 2 runner and Aubrey hit another 1 2 runner. That's 20 for Mora 21 for Luke and 26 for Aubrey good numbers. Pen man Fernando Caberea gets the win and pitched great going 3 innings and allowing 0 runs. Cormier relieved him and gave up just 1 in 2 innings and Jamie Walker ran into some late trouble aLLowing 2 in 2 innings. ALberto Castilo got the O's out of an early jam and retired one batter but did give up an RBI single. Birds win the series and 4 out of the last 5 and are now 60-63 while Detroit who was an early AL favorite is 60-64. The O's complete a postponed game next Monday vs the WHitesox that game is tied. They nexy face Boston and Jeremy Guthrie starts the opener followed by Caberea next than Waters and all three of those starters have shown they can keep you in games abd get the W. The other 2 starters have not shown that enough Sarfate and Olson. Look for their to be in change in those last two spots. Maybe Radhames Liz gets back to starting or someone new. I don't know how that problem will try to get fixed but I'm taking a wait and see approach. At least Waters has had 2 great starts and one bad one. He must give his all vs Boston and there lineup because Big Poppi is back adn Ramirez is now in LA to make that lineup less offensive thank God.

O's crush Tribe then crush Detroit

The O's went two straight to earn a split vs Cleavland then beat Detroit in the opener for a three game winning streak. A strong start from Daniel Cabrera was much needed as he allowed 3 runs in 5 2/3 which I think is a quality start. He needed to give up only 2 and he would have got the victory. The bats really came alive in the 8th as the BIrds scored 8 and won 11-6. Aubrey Huff just missed a home run twice on consecutive pitches. Alberto Castillo struggled some in the ninth mainly due to an error on the Birds. But they won and split that series and actually scored more total runs during the four games. Then Waters started the opener in Detroit but did not last long only allowing two runs but Trembley wanted the bullpen in. The O's jumpewd on top early scoring three in the first then Mora hit a deep fly ball out of the park to make it 4 nothing. Then Cormier relieved Waters and pitched 2 1/3 scorless then Johnson one scorless and Sherill 1 scoreless and the O's had a huge ninth scoring 6 to make the final 11-2. Huge win and Mora's 18th long ball of the season. Right now O's need good starts and that offense is going to give them wins and solid outings. They have to be the hottest lineup after the break in the whole MLB. They are really hitting great. Sarfate starts tonight and he must pitch well. The Skins are playing the Jets at the same time so I will tune in to both.

Game 3 with Guthrie Victorious

Guthrie had another great start only allowing 1 run in seven innings bettering his ERA 3.18, very good. Huff had another long ball this time a solo shot that started the O's in the right direction. It was a 2-0 nothing game until the Tribe hit back to back doubles but that was it for them as the O's had a big 9th scored 5 and won 6-1. Nick Markakis had a 2 RBI single in that ninth followed by a MOra single a Huff double and a wild pitch by an Indian which plated 5 for the Birds in that ninth. The bullpen was great pitching 2 scoreless innings with Jamie Walker going 2/3 Rocky Cherry going 1/3 and SHerrill going 1 inning. That pen is best just going two or three innings not more. Daniel Cabrera pitches tonight and he needs to pitch well. Guthrie just went to 10-8 and Daniel can make his record 9-7 with a strong outing. The O's need it and they should get one from the big righty so at least they can say 2 of their five game starters are doing well. Tune in for the boomin bats of Aubrey Nick Kevin and Melvin and Ramon.

Game 2 vs Tribe another L

Birds put up a good fight in this one but dropped another as their plummet in the standings is dropping them to mediocrity. Aubrey Huff failed to extend his hitting streak which ends at a long 19 games. B Rob extends his to 14. No long balls hit out in this one but Sizemore was close hitting one off the center field wall but his teammate ended up getting thrown out trying to score from 1st. Bad defense hurt the Birds in this one as Mora twice bobbled balls hit at him and then threw one way over first for the Horrendous Defense award. O's tied this one at five after trailing 4-0 and 5-2 but Mora was robbed of a hit that would have kept things looking favorable for the Birds in a rally. He was doubled up on a rocket up the middle but an Indian was playing right there (not a Chingy reference). The Birds are struggling and need qauity outinghs to get the series even at two with Guthrie and Cabrera going the next two. The might very well get a couple of strong outings form the top part of their rotation and the sorley need those two to be on top of their game because i believe the offense will end up scoring enough runs to win. We will find out if that will indeed be the case.

O's first in Cleavland not a good one

O's were doomed by Sarfate and his inability to record outs as he got shelled again in this one. The O's did get a big blast from Aubrey Huff his 24th but it would have been bigger had someone else been on base. Bad starting pitching and bullpen lost this one for the O's despite good offense. FInal 13-8. Garrett Olson has to pitch well tommorrow or else the O's roation is very weak and needs to be worke don in the offseason. Speaking of bad starters i wonder what Steve Trachsel is up to these days. O's drop to five below the .500 mark and need not fall any lower starting with a good performance in their next game is exactly what they need. Well that and a weaker AL would really help as well, almost as much as strong game form Olson, We'll see if the lefty can be great tommorow beacuse it's either great or garbage form these Birds.

O's get caught in attempted sweep

The O's have had many oppurtunities at sweeps and once again failed vs Texas. Things started off all wrong when Cintron could not see a pop up and allowed Kinsler to get on first, then a walk and a blast by Josh Hamilton, early 3-0 lead for Texas, But the O's would show some fight back. Mora hit a two run shot his 17th. Then Aubrey Huff balsted his 23rd for a 6-5 Birds lead. But they could not hold it. Kinsler hit a two run shot and then they would cause all starts of trouble vs the pen which allowed way to many runs. Next up for the O's Cleavland tonight. The Birds trying to keep winning and getting back over .500.

Game 2 Birds whoop Texas again Redskins notes

Two things went on tonight at the same time, a big O's win and Skins football of the preseason variety. After the Birds took a one run lead early Nick Markakis busted one out of the yard for a three run shot i beleive his 17th for a 4-0 lead. Jason Campbell and the offense looked again Jason going 7-10 with 71 yards. Portis scored on a big 4th and goal on the 1 and the Skins needed that. Todd Collins would hit Ladell Betts for a screen touchdown later and Suisham hit a long field goal, not that long though. The SKins played strong D all night and were helped by penalties and a few false starts but also had big holding calls that sent them back twice and converted both for 1st downs. Mora hit a two run single and Roberts added an RBi single and then Mora would hit his 16th long one of the year for a two run shot and the Orioles pitching held Texas to no runs on 5 hits while Cabrera lasted 6 and gave up none on 4 hits. Then Cherry Castillo Cabrera pitched the other three scorless innings. 9-0 your final with the Birds going for the sweep tommorrow. Two Redskins backups performed well. Marcus Mason had another big game rushing 16 times for 80 yards and basically other than one pass from Devine carried the SKins to the one where they failed to score. Broughton had a key run as well, but Devine underthrew Broughton on a one yard route. Billy Mcmullen had 6 catches for 55 yards. Colt was not as great as game 1 but threw some balls well. Moss and Thrash had good gains and Portis was unspectacular with 7 rushes for 18 yards. Ladell Betts had 3 cathes for 41 yards and is a threat out of the backfield to catch passes. The Redskins also caused two huge fumbels in this game. 2-0 are the SKins in preseason and play NY Jets next week. Washington outgained Buffalo by nearly 100 yards. Sarfate starts for the Birds tommorow and yes he is still in the rotation but not for long if he is bad in another start. Hopefully he pitches lights out and the Birds get some strong innings and a win so the offense needs to go out and play like they need to score him some runs. Two deep tonight maybe three tommorow. Tune in and find out.

Strong Start for Birds VS Texas

The Birds took game one of this three game set by a score of 9-1, could have been 12 if Juan Castro could have hit the ball a little harder in the eight but was caught out on the warning track. Kevin Millar gets a round of applause for his second two home run game of the season. Hernandez had two RBI singles and Castro did get a RBI with a timley hit. Guthrie came out and pitched great going seven giving up 1 and the bullpen of Jamie Walker and Jim Johnson did scorless ball too. The O's got 15 hits and something going all night. Luke Scott ended up at third when center fielder Josh Hamilton misplayed a ball that went by him all the way to the wall and scored on a Ramon hit. Great staring pitching great hitting O's win. Daniel Cabrera pitches tommorrow in a start that needs to be a good positive one for the righty and he daces Vincent Padilla whow has won 12 starts. I expect Cabrera to pitch well because he has that capability he just needs to throw strikes and stay ahead of hitters and he should put the O's in a good position to win. If he doesn't I will look very bad and feel bad for Caberea who i still have confindence in. Maybe dumb, NAH.

Finale in Anaheim has Four long balls

The O's fell behind early and then big as the Angels offense was hitting the ball well getting walks and taking advantage of starter Garrett Olson who is not helping his cause to stay a starter with his performance today. Vlady Guererro hit a two run shot in the first and then Mathis hit one out 4-0 ANgels way. Then Lou Montanez in his first major league AB hit a shot that was good for one run 4-1. Next inning more trouble for Garrett as he could not record more than 2 1/3 innings and eventually the score would be 9-1 Angels. Markakis tried to help the O's out hitting a three run balst his 16th but they still trailed big 9-4 and that was the final O's lose the series and finish their 9 game road trip 5-4 which ain't too bad gooing against the likes of NY and league leading Angels and almost sweeping Seattle. Next up for the O's Texas visits Camden Yards which should be a very competitive series. Tune in and find out if the O's can tackle Texas and pick up some wins as those two face off (I love the football refernce don't you).

1st 2 in ANanheim very interesting

The O's lost a nailbiter in game one but the ANgels lost bad in game 2. Sarfate was bad in game one. Millar was an inch away from a 3 run homer and the O's made a valiant comeback in the ninth but Sherill walked home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Game 2 had a first time starter in Chris Waters who pitched marvelously outstanding giving up one hit striking and walking 3 in 8 innings on 104 pitches but was lifted in the ninth for Sherill who picked up the save and conserved the shutout. The O's struck in the first for two and then Luke Scott solo homered to give them a helpful insurance run. Big win for the O's who go for the series victory and a 6-3 road trip tommorow. A win would no doubt be huge especially against the best team in the MLB (Mile Long Bombs).

Redskins Hall of Fame Like in Colt Kicking

The Redskins After leading 9-3 fell behind on a bad penalty at the end of the first half on Tryon allowing the colts a kick for three. Then Colt Brennan led two touchdowns playing third string and people tryin to make it. One touchdown was thrown to Mann and one to Mason. Mason ran real well well and had 98 yards on 18 carries 5.8 yards a carry. Jason Campbell scored a touchdown on his furst drive hittin Randle El on a 20 yard cross in the zone. Clinton Portis was held out.Campbell was 5-5 for 68 yards. Martiel Webster hit a intercept returned for a touchdown and made it 30-16 final for a big win in the hall of fame game though preseason only big for those who play well. Skins play on Saturday day vs the Bills and more tim with the starters maybe a quarter or two. The dedense was strong only allowing 16 points and two big sacks from Horton.

Last one in Seattle NO GOOD for the BIRDS

Winding up the series the O's could not get a sweep as Cabrera did not pitch very well and lost giving up 6 ER and left after 6. The O's did lead but always gave up that lead in the same inning. Brian Roberts did hit his 8 long ball of the year pulling the ball over the fence deep. Jose Lopez went deep for the M's both solo shots. The O's just fell behind at the wrong time late and could not get back in it. I blame a lackluster lousy couple of defensive plays. Well really only one as the one Roberts attempted first would have been a marvelous one had his flip to second been on the money. The O's lose this one 8-4 and drop to four games under .500. They head to ANaheim to take on the ANgels once again and they would like a series victory over the best team in baseball that would be worth a lot to a team struggling right now.

O's once again pitch great and win

Jeremy Guthrie was on top of his game in this one holding the Mariners to 4 hits and one run which came on back to back doubles in the first, after that just two infield singles and that was it. The O's offens was not the Big O some have now come to expect from the Birds but Mora started off with an RBI double down the line. Ramon Hernandez added another run with a hit and Aubrey Huff blooped a single and drove another run in 3-1 your final with Guthrie getting the complete game victory sending his record to 8-8 with a very soldid 3.35 ERA. ADam Jones was 3-5 and Huff and mOra had two hits a piece in the W. The O's are now looking to sweep the terrible Mariners and can do so when Daniel Cabrera takes the mound this afternoon. Expect a very solid outing from Cabrera who should shut down the Mariners struggling offense. He faces Silva who is not pitching well and the O's should score quite a few on him. Tune in and find out today at 4:00pm. I will.

Last one in Ny first in Seattle

The O's stunk it up in the last game vs NY but they won the first two so good series. Dennis Sarfate struggled and Juan Castro Abreu and Rodriguez all homered. Then behind a 8 1/3 3 run outing from Garrett Olson the O's dominated Seatlle 10-5 in game 1. Olson was working on a complete game shutout but could not get it and the O's had an 8 run 5th all 2 out RBI's and took a commanding 10 nothing lead. They would hold on even though Seattle scored 5 in the ninth to make things a little closer. Tonight Jeremy Guthrie goes as the ace of the staff looks to continue his good pitching.
