Skins Lose in Detroit

This was a game im still shocked over because of certain decisions made and some mistakes that should not have neen made. Redksins go for it on 4th and goal from the 1 and get stuffed on a sterch left. Then they go offsisdes and give up five that they needed to create extra pressure on the Lions. Two third downs end up just short of the marker on passes to Cooley and Moss Moss i think had enopugh but got a weak spot. Jason was 27-41 fro 340 yds and a 97.6 QB rating. CP another day not over 100 yds this one not even close as he had 0 yds in the first half and 42 on 12 carries for the game 3.5 avg. Moss 10 grabs for 178 yds and a TD. One decision ir really question is the SKins accepting a off pass interference call when they had the Lions stopped on 3rd down but Zorn said he wanted them out of FG range but they ended up copncverting a 3rd and 13 and would ened up scoring a TD in that drive. Hey kick a Fg and make them kick a Fg and thats a 7 point swing adn enough for the SKins tow in the game. Instead the O runs out of time late in the 4th and we cant score the game winning TD. We also needed a 3 and out on D to give us abouyt 48 more seconds which i belibve i would have givven uss a great schacne to get that TD. Betts 4 grbs fro 43 yds Cooley 3 fopr 38 EL 2 for 21 Kelly 1 for 18 Davis 1 for 13 Rock 3 for 12 and a TD Devibn 1 for 7 Portis 1 for 6 Sellers 1 for 4. A long compeltion to Devin was brought back on a hold and that really hurt the SKins as well. Yds in favor of the ZSKins 390-381 but the SKins had 9-98 yds and two missed calls one a facemask on Moss which would have converetd a 3rd down and another a intention groundindg when Stafford threw the ball nowhere near reciver while in the grasp should have been penalties. hanyesworth his first sace of the yeae a fierce hit where he folded the QB like a lawn chair and Orakpo his first sack he speed rushed and beat his man and dove in and sacked the QB. No Turnovers created by the SKins defense and that makes things more dificlut to win. Cambell 2 TDs 1 pick giving him 3 TDs and 2 picks for the year. His pick came when he was pressured and had to get rid of it but El was open Moss was covered and he went to Moss and it was picked off.

United Downs Marathon

DC had a great second half scoring 3 and shitting out Marathon 3-0. Emilio scored early in the 2nd half ona cross from John that he headed into the corner of the back of the net. Then Moreno would be the recipient of a cross by Emilio a tpouch bakc from WQuaranta and he nailed his shot to the low corner its in th net 2-0. Then Emilio gets space and topuches the ball twice on the third a strike that found the net 3-0 and EMilio had about 3 more great chacnes but he did score some big golas in this one. DC is now in 2nd in there Concacaf standings and faces Jabolteh Wed and a win there would adavcne them into the next round.

SKins get W beat Rams

The Skins dug their heels in on D an escasped with a victory they really needed 9-7. The Rams were held to only one score a TD that was caused by a big run by the RB a 58 yds. Other than that the SKins D played great Horton caudsed a fumble that carlos recovered. Mcintosh caused another but the SKins were called for a roughing the passer so Carter recovered by ball back to the rams and a 1st down. Jason 23-35 for 242 and some real nice scrambles 85.7 QB rating. CP 19 rushes 79 yds 4.2 AVG. JC 7 for 28. Cooley 7 for 83 Kelly a better 2nd game 4 for 41 El 4 for 39 inckluding a great catch were he pulled in one he had to sterch for. Moss 3 for 35 he was better his 2mnd game as well. Betts a big screen went for 25. Sellers one for 12 Cooley 2 for 9 Davis 1 for -2 ouch not productive. The biggest play of the game was Portis running on a 4th and 1 getting 10 he was later stopped on a 4th and 1 near the goal. But the d stopped the Rams the next 4 plays and SKins win it. There were some dropps and 2 of them would have been TDs Sellers and Devin. DONT DROP TOUCHDOWNS CUZ TEHN ULL HAVE TO KICK FGS. Randle EL actually had a nice punt retuyrn of 15 and Moss fumbled after a nice gain at the end of the 1st half but i felt he was being pulled by his facemask otherwise he would have been down. Yards 362-245 SKins and simply said the SKins played better and won. Bext up a trip to Detroit to face the Lions.

O's Win vs Tampa

The Birds behind a strong outoing from Tillman and WIters contributing from behind and at the plate win 4-2 vs Tampa taking game 3 of the four game set. They have now outscored Tmapa 18-15 and Tillman wnet 6.2 allowing just one ER a HR by Zaughn solo. QALbers got a big out to finoish the inning and Baez worked a soclress 8th and Johnson gave up the game tier in the 9th a asolo shot but WIters would come to bat in the 9th and smack a run homer to win it ofr the Birds. Scott just missed a HR earlier but got the double to drive in a run and Witers had a sac fly for the Birds 4 runs. Johnson wins and he did give up the solo shot that just cleared the fence in center but had Pie got back there he had a chance to catxch it. Hendrickson vs Wade tommorow and the lefty for the Birds makes a start in a position he held a l,ong time ago to start the year and wothe Matusz being shutdown he has yet anotehr chacne to prove he bel;ongs i thinks he's been good out of the pen but not strong as a starer right now i know 4 Birds who can pitchw well and thats Matusz Bergesen Guthrie and Tillman Berken and Hernandez have not been good starets for the most part and i dont know if theywill get to try in games that matter next year but hey they are rookies and maybe they do deserve a 2nd chance but one of them prolly wont get that chacne.

O's Route Tampa

The Birds blistered Tampa pitchers for 10 runs and 16 hits. Berken struggled early but gets the win allowing 5 ER in 6.1. The bullpen held his lead and did not allow a run as Castillo went .1 ray .1 Baez the 8th and Johnson the 9th. Roberts doubled in a run Markakis had a groundout rbi Izturis singled in a run Scott grounded out for a rbi Witers had a 2rbi single and Matt was hot getting three hoits a 2b a HR and asingle. Soctt hit a deep solo shot his 22nd HR and WIters plated 3 as he blasted a big fly his 6th and first not to the opposite field. Birds win 10-5. Tommowor Tillman vs SOnnastine. Tillma 2-3 4.91 ERA Sonnastine 6-9 7.15 ERA. Birds have so far outscored Tampa 14-13.

Skins Lose to Giants

The Skins fell down and couldnt get back up as a Cambell strip for a TD late in half 1 put the SKins down 17-0. They responded with a fake FG for a TD bu Hunter Smith and went into the half 17-7 and reday to recive the ball. They would add a FG and throw a late deep strike to Cooley but it was too late as a fatal mnistake came on a 3rd and 5 when the ball was batted away from Moss. The SKins really had to go for it on 4th but punted and that sealed there fate as they would have neede to 3 and outs and that likely was not gonna happen alot easier to get 5 yards on a 4th down. Randle El had a bnig day 7 rec for 98 yards Cooley had 7 for 68yds. Betts broke 1 for 23 yds. Portis had a great first carry running 34 yds through holes but a reverse to randel El proved didstarous as he lost 10. Portis 1 rec for 10 yds and 16 carries for 62 yds 3.9 AVG Moss 2 grabs for 6 yds and Kelly 1 rec for 6 yds. Carter got the lone skins sack Griffin and daniels combined on another but the Giants could flagged for holding and the skins took that. Hall had a pick when landry broke up a pass and he returned 18 yds deep into Giants zone. alexander recovered a manning fumble. Fianl 23-17 and the SKins open at home vs St Louis a game they really need to play well and win. Sellers was no involved in running or catching and hes solid at doin that but had no offense gains. Jason 16-23 for 211 and a 93.6 passer rating but threw a pick after he crossed the line of scrimmage a p[lay that i feel was pass interfernce on the defsne.

O's Best Yanks United FAlls

O's Beat up on Ynaks 7-3 Matusz a great outing going 7 strong allowing 1 ER 4 H 3 Ks 2 BB and wins and is now 5-2 4.63 ERA. Baez a scorless 8th and Johnson gave up 2 in the 9th but a 6 run 2nd ibnning was all the O's would need as Reimold led it off with a solo shot his 15th HR. Andino got a bloop single down the line for an rbi then Brob clears the stuffed sacks with his 15th HR a grand slam his 2nd of the eyar and 5th in his career. Firoentino hit a sac fly and the O's win 7-3. They have a cahcne to sweep the Yanks in the Bronx for the first time since 86. Guthrie 10-13 4.96 vs CC 3.40ERA 16-7 he can be beaten and the Birds roughed him up in the first game of the year and they hope to do that again but hey just score runs and give Guthriw a chance because he's been lights pitching his past 5 starts. United lost 2-1 Wallace had an equalizer when he got the ball in the box and booted it in but a late goal by Seatlle could not be answered and United falls 2-1 when the had a couple great chaces for Emilio but when he kicked to staright the goalie got the other a flick just wide of the net which i thought was heading for the back of the net but went just wide DC's first home loss. Nezt up San jose visits RFK for a 3 oclockl sunday game but the redskins are also playing so i may just catch the 2nd half of that one. Dc with a win could have been tied for first in the East and well on there way to tye playoffs but no points gained and they remain 3rd in the East tied for 6th and the best 8 get in so they are in now but they need positive results in there remaining 4 matches and with this loss the KC win is whats keeping them in it.

The O's had the bats going in this one and Tillman pitched well allowing 4 runs in 5 innings 8 Ks Castillo .1 ALbers .2 Hendrisckon 3 all scorless for the save. Scott doubled in arun BRob hit a s ac fly. Mora HBP Roberts 2 rbi single Izturis single rbi Reimold sac fly Izturis rbi single Nick 2 rbi single 10-4 is youtr final and Tillman wins it. Matusz 5.26 ERA 4-2 vs Burnett 11-8 4.19 are todays starers. Jeter passed Gehrig as all time hits leader fro the Yanks but the O's beat up on the Yanks

Unied Beats KC

DC beat KC and both teams had a good chances to score but DC had the only shot hit the back of the net as Namoff headed a cross through the box Pontius had a promsing header hit off the post but it boounced dangerously and Emilio got a foot on t and it snuck under the cross bar and into the back of the net. That was the only goal but Luciano had a couple great chances one the keeper beat him to the ball barely and the other he didnt angle tot the corner and endde up kicking right at the goalie for a routine save. This win and 3 points moves DC into the playoffs and up in the standings and thats what they needed and wanted because a tie just isnt as good. Burch and Jaklovic are out 2-3 weeks with injuries. dc wins 1-0 and Wicks gets his 2nd shiutout in the last three games. Next up Seatlle on Saturday as the SOunders visit RFK and that place is always loud and rowdy for soccer games. Another win there and they would be near the top and thats where they want to be heading into the last handful of games.

O's Whoop Texas

The Birds beat up on Texas and had another great start from Jeremy Guthrie 7 innings no Runs on 6 hits a BB and 6 Ks. The pen would keep the shutout as Albers worked a scorless inning as did Kam who got a huge K with runners on 2nd and 3rd for the 2nd out. Moeller doubled in 2 runs Forentino singled in a run Roberts singled in 2runs and Reimold hit a sac fly. Fiorentino hit another rbi single and the Birds roll 7-0 and outscore the rNgers in the series 13-9. Guthrie improves to 10-13 with a 4.96ERA and he has been pitching great his last handful of stars and if he keeps it up like he has been going he will keep winning and keep lowering his ERA. A trips to Boston is next for the Birds in a 2 game series Hernandez 4-6 4.54 ERA vs Bucholz 4.40 ERA 4-3. The bvitrds could have had an 8th run but Wigginto was thrown out at the plate barely.

DC United Draws Terps Lose

United would fall behind a goal but strike back twice for the equalizer as they tued Dallas. Burch hit a nice free kick ball low corner to score and Santino was fouled in the box and Jaime hit the oenalty shot to theback olf the net but DC had many good chances to score but would go just wide or have a d step in at the last second to spoil the chance. if goal differnial is the tiebreaker then DC holds a playoff spot. There nexy match Wed vs KC in RFK. Terps got whooped 52-13 Tuirner 17-30 167 yds no picks or TDs. but he gfot sacked too many times. Scott had 13 rushes for 90 yds 6.9 AVG so he was effective Cannon 5 rec 30 yds Scoot 3 rec 31 yds Gaklt 3 rec 29 yds SMith 1 for 29 Tyler 2 for 25 Watson 2 for 25. They play james Madison next Sat.

O's Lose 1 WIn 1 Skins drope Reseason finale

O's only manged a run in the opner vs the Ranghers Bob singled it in but they lost 5-1 Tillman gave up 5 ER in 6 innings and they bullpen slammed the door but the O's couldn;t start the rally they needed to make thos one interesting. Castillo got an out Merdith 2 and ALbers went 2 scorless. The next game was alot better after Matusz struggled in the first allowing 3 his other run was not deserved as Nick lost a fly ball in the sun and it bounced away for a triple but should really have been an error anyway he went 7 allwoing the 4 ER and won the game and is now 4-2 so he's getting wins despite a high ERA of 5.26. SOme say the Birds plan on sghutting down there rookie starers but do they have enough people left to pitch big league games i understand that they havent pitched this manyt innings in ayear but i think they can handle it and id love to see these guys keep getting to start because they have for the most part pitched well in the last 23 weeks they have the 2nd best ERA for starters in the AL and thats a start. Reimold hit asolo shoit his 14th HR amnd Mora had asolo shot his 7th Markais hit asacx fly and almost had 2 infield hits but got one Mora hit one down the line that the d knocked down but could not get an out and withe bases being loaded a run scored but if that ball gets past 3 could have scored. Then Mora hit a single thats scored a run and gave the Birds the lead for good. Mora had 3 hits. Baez had a soclress inning as did Johnosn who got the save his 8th and the relivers did not allow a hit in 2 innings Matysz gave up just 6 and the O's manged 8 hits a Reimold double being one. O's win 5-4 and try to win the series vs a good Ranger's ballclub vying for the WIldcard. The stare's tommorow Holland 5.63 ERA 7-9 vs Guthire 9-133 5.18 ERA but has pitched real well as of late so let'ssee if the Birds can't win the series and maybe outscore Texas as they now trail in the socring over the 2 games 9-6. Skins lsoe to Jax 17-24 Colt looked good as did Dnauiel and the first team was barely used. a 400 game vs NY awaits next SUnday.

Nolan Reimold hit his 13th HR a solo shot adn Nick hit a sac fly but that was all the O's O could score and they fall 10-2 behind a 7 run ninth by the yanaks. Berken pitched strong allowing 1 ER in 5.1 Hendsickson an out and JKam .1 allowing 2 ER Johnson 5 ER no part of an inning Sarfate 2 ER in .2 Castillo 1 scorlss Baez 1 scorless Bass .1 scorless and they O's get swept by the Yanks. Texas visists Camden Yards next with Feldman 14-4 3.72 ERA vs Tillman 4.24 ERA 1-2.

The O's fell 9-6 Hernadez 5 innings 5 ER 6 BB 7 Ks. Ray lost giving up three on HRs Sarfate 0 innings 1 ER Albers 2 innings 0 ER Cla 1 inning 0 ER. Nick Nolan Mora all had 3 hits Pie a solo shot his 8th Luke his 21st HR a 3 run bomb longest ive seen all year maybe in my l;ife hit the wqarehouse and that ,may be th first time i witnessed that. O's lose the first two David had a chance to win but the buillpen couldnt hold the elad. Tommoropw Sabathia 15-7 3.56 ERA vs Berken 4-11 6.33 ERA. O's look to take 1 and win the finale.

O's Fall to Ny

In this one was a good pitching duel Petite perfect through 6.2 but Nick broke it up then Mora went deep a solo HR his 6th. Guthrie 6 innings allowed 2 runs Hendrickson 1.2 allowed 3 and Bass 1.1 allowed 0. Guthire piched good enough to win but didn't and if he keeps up this string of strong outings his ERA could be a lot better as could his record but he gets the tough loss in this one. O's only manged 3 hits Jones Nick and Melvin. Jones just missed a HR his first AB when it seemed to go right over the foul pole and I thought that was a HR. Tonight' stsarters Burnett 10-8 4.10 ERA vs Hernandez 4-6 4.24 ERA should be good. LEt's Go O's!!!!!!!!!
