I stated how important this game was in the standings one the Caps really wanted to win and did convincingly 1-4 where the struck ealry and often and beat the golaie who just become the all time shutoiut leader with 104 but the Caps took it to him today and got the standings boost. The SKins game last night was anticlimatctic one becuase they are having a bad season and 2 cuz they played poorly and got whipped 45-12. They didnt have a solid pass rush giving Eli a top tier QB all kinds of time and then the secondary wasnt breaking on the ball and knocking it away from WRs they looked a bit like a team that wanted to lose to improve their draft position. One play at the end of the 1st half was so sloppy the Skins lined up almost everyone on the left leaving a center and Kelly in front and the rush came so quickly that Hunter was drilled threw a duck and it was picked off and returned a long way thankfully not for a TD and Davis was wide open had they used the aspect of an o line i belive it would have been a TD just a horrible play and formation that was doomed as soon as they lined up. The stats JC 15-28 192 a TD 2 INt 57.4 QB rating. JC had 2 runs for 36 yds scrambled effetcivley picking up firsts on 3rd and longs. The Caps played so well in this one that they had a 5-0 lead with 6 1/2 minutes to go in the 2nd period and the game pretty much over it would have taken a great effort to get 5 in that shoirt a time and not give up any. Laich did kick a puck in but before it crossed the line i blieve he got his stick on it but it was ruled no goal. The same happened to COlrado when the puck was under Jose and a Cap checked a Av into him and the puck went in that goal was also dissaolowd i belive cuz they saw a extra shove from the AV. This game saw the Caps trail 2-0 then put 3 goals in a row to take a lead only to relinquish it on a shorty (SHG) but have Mike Green wrsit one in OT to win it. The Caps really played there best game tonight blessed with a 9 minute PP bvecuase a flyer lost his cool crosschecked instigated and then swung at Matt Bradley before he took his gloves off was given the largest openalty ive ever seen and the Caps used it scoring 3 times in that huge chacne. The would go on to score 8 times holding Philly to just 2 and guees who scored there first goal of the season Dave Steckel #39 center great at winning faceoffs and he scored the 8th goal relived to get one im sure Dave is relieevd. The first gola was scored when Fleichamn was passed to in front of the net and he smacked the puck through the pads five holer and in for a gaol his 9th from Morrison and Fehr. Philly tied it on a juicy rebound. Then Fleichman fires a wruister that ended up going to him after Fher broke his stick on a shot off a d and Tomas whipped it in his 10th from fehr and Poti first two goals all Fleichman. Then Green would fire a wrister top shelf far side a sweetly placed puck and it hit nothing but net his 4th from Nik and Smein. The Caps had a scare in this one not the fear of a loss but fear of their most productive players helath as Ovie collided knee on knee was given a 5 minute major another one they have had 3 or 4 and i dont think they even had one lasyt year and a game misconduct but id ont think he could have played any more anyway as he skated off the ice gingerly hopefully he wont miss any time as the Caps have Tuesday and Wednesday off i think its just a bruise or a light starin but he shoiuldnt miss any more games. Carolina struck firts on a pP when a puck slipped through people Caine got it deked and beat Jose.
