Caps WIn Decisive Game 7

The Caps won the biggest game of the year thus far for them 2-1 with tallies from Smein to tie it at 1 and then late third a Federov wrister place perfectly in the top far corner. The Caps outscored NY 19-11 in the series and can say they were the better team even though they trailed 3-1 in the series but came all the way back. Varlamov had 14 saves and allowed just 1 goal so he is real close to being the best playoff gaolie with 1.17 GAA on hundreth of a point shy of Luongo who has 1.16 GAA but that can change. Semin had 5 gaols tied with Eric Satll of the Caines. The Caps face Pittsburg because the Caines ca,me back on 2 goals in the lats minute and a half vs the Devils so they face Boston while we have another home advanatge series in DC vs the Pesky Penguins. Ovie will be ready as will Semin and the other Caps and I know Varlamov is eager to prove his elite status. L:et's Rock the Red and Root on the Caps because they are a team worth watching.

O's Lose Finale to Texas

The O's jumped on em. They grabbed a one nothing lead on Huff single but Markakis was gunned down at third bad baserunning. Then Andino would single in a run he should start over zturis in my book and Roberts knocked home 2 more because ANdino stole second come that guy's hitting .375 Trembley insert him he's prduvctive. But thos efour runs would all for the Orioels and Texas would chip away and tie then take the elad on a 2 run single. The O's would make it intersteing in the ninth when Montaznes was hit by pitch adn Zaughn sent one down the line it should have been a double but Zauign satyed at first but the ANdino woul strike out and that was it. Guthriw pitche 5 and led with the elad but he had to throw a ton opf pitches in the first due to alot of foul ba.lls. ALbers would get hit up for three in the sixth Sarfate got out of the jam adn pitched 2.1 scorless and Ray a scorless ninth but still the Birds fall and instead f eveneing their record fall to 9-11 with a 2 game set vs ANgels Eaton throws tommorow. Caps game 7 Tommorow too and that's a big one the Caps definitley want to win.

Caps Punish NY O's Clip Texas

Good night for the local squads as the Caps proved they won't go down and force a mamoith game 7 Tuesday. # Defensman scored in Period 1 Jurcina on a hgh near corner slapper Green on a rebound on a PP Top near coner and Poti jumopstarting a 3 on1 dish to the top over to the other side and back to Poti who finished snapping it over the leg of zLundquist. Then Kozlov would flip one over the shopulder and barel into the goalie after the puck went in then Ovie tipping a shot form Poti through the legs of the goalie. The Rangers would get 2 5 on 3 and socre on only one of them and score with 5 sxceonds left but not enough and the series returns to Washington to see who will go to round 2. The O;'s won 8-5 Beregsen went 4 allowing 5 but the pen would not allow a run and the O's bats were slugging as Roberts hit his 2nd blast and Jones his 3rd Jones and Scott doubled adn the O's got 14 hits. Beaz three socrless Jonhson 1 scorelss and SHerill gets his 4th save pitching a scorless nointh allowing just the eladoff double. Jones 3-4 .348AVg adn Roberts 4-5 .372 AVg and Markaiks 2-4 .389 AVG Jones stole his 1st base and Roberts was caught 3rd time. Great game for the birds as they wish to even the series in the finale at 2 and even their recored at 10-10 as Guthrie goes tommorow look for a stron rebound preformance from him. Caps Strech Series to Crucial Game n6

The Caps came out like a team that needed wanted igt an dgot it. They did it with great O and super D and Valiant Varlamov and nothing could be better than playing the same way in Game 6. Yes they lead goal]s plus five fir the Caps but the series remains with them doiwn a game and trying to tye it since it hasnt been that way since the series began and foirce a game 7 back at home.

att Bradley certainly my top star of the game cdreated his own breakaway and went backhanded top dhelf for the opening goal. Then he skated in oin gthe wing got a pass and wreisted it through the legs for anotehr . Semin fired one off a fecoff win and scored. Green had his goal dissalowed because they claim he hit iyt with a high sgtick. Then Ovechkin skated nn wen and deked through people kicked the puck back to hois stick fell down and scored backhanded corner low for a great tally though it was noit really needed but it was a nice good strong tot he net. Varlomov made all the sAves he could and the Caps gave the Rnagers andothe r4-0 n beating. Os lostr a close one when HSerill allowed a nonth oi nning two run shoyt to giv ethe lead to the Rangers but it still shouldnt have been enough Texas shorstop naDRUS ROBBED THEM OF A RUN AND iZTURIS MOMENTATRIYLKY BOBBbled the ball that cost the O;s to give up anothe rru n they should have woin just the sam ecase as Bposton openere

O's Beat Palehose win series

The O's are back at 500 after an impressive 6-2 whipping of the whitesox. Adam Eaton went 7.1 only allowing the 2 runs in his klast inning. Johnson and Sherill finished up well. Eaton had 9 Ks and pitched great all night leaving out that eight which started poorkly and Thome knocked in the 2 runners with a single but that was all they could muster and it wasn't enough as The O's got 2 in the first after Jones singled Ufff doubled and Wigginton singled . Then Scott doublde scoring 2 more Izturis knocked himn in with as ingle and a Markaisk double scored Jones later after he reached on an error. Pie went 2-4 both singles but that shou;d give him a little more confidnece at the plate. Eaton hgets his first win as a BIrd. Next up Texas at home. Markaiks leads the team in BA .387 Wigginton Huff and Pie 2 hits a piece O's had 10 hits sox 7 and this one was mainly about great pitching adn ti ley hitting.

Caps Lose another tight game

This was the biggest game of the year becuz it was the only chance for the Caps to have a shot at leaidng the seires but they lose so it was the smallest game of the year? Well how has the Caps year ben in big games. Beat Detroit won some important games at the end to lock up the number 2 seed missing Montreal and Carolina by inches but they aint gonna miss the criticism im a give em staright up. First game Bad defense Shultz to the hospital for broken angles. Second game no offense granted the hit the post and hit acouple more tonight on onetimers from AO and Federov(score a goal alrady would YA). Third game all Capoitals 4-0 great performance. 4th game (Biuggest game) or buggest game some freak things happen like a weird deflection off Erskine's stick Yeah Laughlin im sure he feels terrible if he even knows he did it. Then theer was a short shot that Varlamov had a problem catchong it and Drury smacks it in. Then Ovechkin gives the Caps a reasonable shot scoring early in the third on a wrister that banged off the post and in. But that was it and a team cant win many games scoring one goal and they cant win any scoring 0 so in any series they would have been in at best things could be 2-2 and in this one it's 3-1 with a game so big it's suffering from elephantitis right now a game back at the home of the Caps the Verizon Ceneter maybe since it's in China Town the guys can eat some General TSO's and come it fired up like hot peppers because they they trail 3-1 the lead the overall score 7-6 a one goal advantage something they will look to grab early and add to and win game 5 so at leadt they can play again then win again and force game 7 A possibility that to me seems a good one seeing as how Vaelomov aside form one glaring mistake played well again. He needs a shutouyt or just to allow one unless the Caps wanna pour on the offesne thick and that possibility seems good too but you never know how things will work. ANother note is that AVery seems to like giving the Caps PP chances if he does some more duumb penalties the Cap[s better make him and his team pay for it by scoring.

O's Club WHitesox in Opener

Game 1 was great for the O's as they got to call ups from AAA to play well as Brad Bergesen went 5.2 allowing 1 earned run striking out 4 batters. Aubrey Huff had a huge night clubbing2 2 run homers one went right over the foul pole and deep into CaMDEN Yards. Markakis had a great night going 4-4 witha walk . Izturis hita big 2 run double and also stole second and went to third ona bad throw. Montanzez the other callcup hit a buig double down the line went 1-4. Baez recorded an out. Ray pitched the seventh allowing nnthing. Johnson the 8th allowing nothing and Bass the 9th allowing nothing. SO other than a misplayed ball by Wigginton who did make some nice defensive stops he ended up letting it take a hard hop and missing it leading to the 2 unearned runs so the O's need defesnsive work inflield and outfield to rally sharpen up on dfensive to give the pitchers better hel;p. Caps win Game 3 O's struggle in Btown

The Caps lost game 2 a thriller that Ovechkin almost nooteed at one but his one timer struck off the post and bounced haremlessly around in the zone. Rangers scored ona 2 on1 and that was it as rookie sensation Simeon Varlomoiv made a ton of great saves and he was dominant in game 3 getting the shutout as the Caps won 4-0 2 markers from Smein one from Laich adn one from Poti and this was a done deal as Ovechkin stopped a shorthanded breakaway when he dove and slapped the puck away. Callahan who had the game;'s only goal in game 2 hit post ona juicy rebound with help from Varlomov and Bakcstrom and made great saves repaeteldy to earn the shutout and ramin in goal certanily said Bruce Boydereo for Game 4 another one the Caps need more than the Rangers to have it 2-2 and back to DC would bring great life to the Verizon ceneter and the way the Caps played this one you have got to bel;eive the will put up another greta show Wednesday. Koji Uehara went 7 innings allowed 2 but the Birds could only socre one. The other two were expected losses as Jones and Mora bith sat oout and that hurts this lineup severley as Hew drisckopn went 5 allowing three and Eaton allowing six another poor outing from that guy and Bereghsen will play tommorw as starting pitcher with Simon dealing with elbow problems and problematiclay allowin the long ball i wonder which one put him on the DL HMMMM. Jones will be back in the lineup from what i heard from the Orioles brass. Ovechkin quote New York is smelly well Ovie hold yyour nose and try to score Smein scoring 3 goals in the first three is hot and they need another swell performance and they will be playing there best to try and even it up and see if they cant take the lead back in their building. Caps Lose Opner Birds fall to Texas

The Caps lost a close one with the game winner coming when Jeff SHultz inexplicably skated past Dubinsky whjo would pass him and hit the game winner. COuld Varlomov be called on or will Jose try and redeem himslef. Ovechkin scored on a PP one time slapper that wnet in low and Kozlov one timed a good pass from Nick Bakcstrom low corner then Semin would control a reound and fire in but it would not be enough as the Caps drop game 1 and now really need game 2 maybe they will be more hyped for it and take it to the Rangers cuz they dont want to be down 2-0. They delivered alot of strong hits and they had some marleous chances to try and score sepeclaly on that fourth goal but didnt get it but they can fight back and win this series they are a really good team and i think wel will see an inspired performance in game 2 with the Caps really wantuing it. The Birds lost Roberts made a crucial throwing error on a possible double play and that would crack the damn and Texas scored many that i nning and took a comntrolling lead,. Birds now 6-3.

O's Beat Texas in Extra Innings

The BIrds bullpen was great Adam Jones hit a huge 2 run blast and then more runs in the 10th as Luke Scott doubled in a couple more runs but Sherill would allow four consceutive singles and allow 2 runs before getting 2 long fly ball outs and those had you sweating in your seat wondering if they had the home run distance but they didn't. Sateret LAlfredo Simon left eraly after allowing three solo shots and was pulled ealry. Safte a socrelss 3.1 Ray no runs in 1.1 Walker no run s in 1 and Johnson pitched 2 scorless innings and got the win. Great work from the pen and SHerill pitched the 10th giving up 2 but holding on for the save agaimnst the heart of that ranger's lineup. Scott his 2nd went deep solo as did Huff his 1st. Jones batted in Roiberts with asingle and things wree 3-3 fdrom the 4th to the 10th then the O's broght out the bats and goit 4 to win it and the series they have won the first 2 games of all 3 series and go for the sweep tonoght but i will be paying close attention to the Capitals first popsteseason game. BROB 3-5 npw batting .441 Jones 2-4 and Scott 2-4 so the top 4 in the lineup all well over .300 the botoom half not very good but look for Scott to have a solid average and Zaughn Pie too maybe even izturis. O's Beat Texas in Close One

The Birds pounded Texas and take a big early lead 10-4 but the Rangers would make it interresting. Uehara got through five allowing four but in the six started off loading the baess and got pulled and all three runners would score. Koji got the win but gav eup 7 in 5 innj ngs so not a strong outing. I would hav elikmed to see him get the outs in the sixth and this one would never have been close. baez pitched 2 innings and gavve up 2 runs. Walker got his man. Johnson got 2 outs and SHerill pitched a scorless ninth and struck oput the last abtter on three pitches getting the K with the heater in on his hands. Sherill allowed a lead off double by Kinsler but Markakis would make a huge catch ruinning all the way to the wall then into it to rob Young of a double or triple. Then Hamilton flew out and Byrd Kd. Robwerts had a great diving stop in the 8th which took away a hit. Pie hit a solo shot his first in the fifth Huff went 4-5 with 3 RBIs Markakis has 9 RBI for the season getting 2 more in this one and Roberts a 3 hit day batting .414 a real good avareage. Huff Scott Jones Roberts and Markakis all doubled and Roberts stole a base his 3rd. Uehara is 2-0 and HSerill got his 3rd save in 3 tries and The BIrds are now 5-2 and playing good so far. O's Beat Tampa win sries lose finale

The O's shutout Tampa 6-0 on a strrong outing by Guthriew who ent six and did not allow a run setting his ERA to 2.25. Ray got out of ajm in the ninth with runners on 2nd sand 3rd he struck out the next batter and got the final out maintaining athe shutout. ALbers got 2 outs and walker 4 and that ws it as MOra connected ona grand slam and the O's would another on a Markakis double and a Jones grounout. The seond game not so good as the O's Adam Eaton got hit up for fouyr runs most of them coming off a bases loaded triple by Crawford with two outs Longoria would get Crawford home. Then another four run outburst happened when Zobrist hit a three run shot. Eaton pitched four and gave up four not good. Then Brian Bass the O's long man outr the pen got clobbered pitching 3.1 and giving up 7 runs. Sarfate would work a scorless 1.2 but Bass does not look like he's got good stuff especially not today maybe the O's need to try someone else out of long releif. The O's wouls core three times in the ninth but that was not enough Scott singled ina run Pie walked with the bases loaded and Moeller drove one n ona double play ball so that takes away the RBI. Jones had the only extra base hit by the O's all day a double where he would be stranded on and the Birds only manged 6 hits. O's Next face Texas but they did good through the first 2 series winning both and having a shot yo sweep both. Things are good but they could have been better.

O's win Opener vs Tampa

The O's had 2 in the first 3 in the fifth on a stareaky 2 out rally and won 5-4 with SHerill holding on to the save in the ninth. Jones went 2-4 with 2 doubles and Zaughn had a double and the satrting pitching trom Hendirickson wza s what it needed to be rewla good as he went 5 1/3 allowing just 1. Baez got five oputs four Ks and was real well throwing strikes and getting ahead of hitters. Johnson gave up a 2 run homer and in inning. AN sherill gave a asolo sghit but goit that save Mora had 21 hgits and 3 RBIs Markakis a RBI anfd Huff came home on a wild pitch. Mora made a great lepaing grab and The Os win despit allowing 3 ho,me runs. Hopefully Guthriw brings his best pitches out tonight vs the Rays and gave the O's a real quality outing and the O's maybe have na offeniave outbutrst to give Guthroiw some run support. They would love to win and take the series vitory in the firts 2 games and have a shot at the sweep when Afdam Etaon pitches,

Caps beat Tampa complete sweep won seocnd

The Caps win toniht was big because they locked up second swept Tampa in six games and now own teh Caps asinhgle seaosn record for points with 108.  With nothing to be gained in the finale i will be watching the O's Tampa game but i still would like to see what happens in teh finale vs Florida but oh well The Playoffs for the Cup are right around the corner.Stamkos got the first goal on an early one time slapper through the pads of Jose in the ifrts minute but Jose performed real well allowing just 2 goals making 22 saves mayb he performed so well becase rookie Simeon Vralomov is playing so well making Jose sweaat it out and now feels pressured.SMaybe not.  ∫rooks Laich scored on a 5 n 3 on a rebound backhand that he tucked into the net his 21stfrom Backstrom and Green.  then Liach would score again when he found room in the slot and flipped it top shelf corner far side for his 22nd from Green Nylander.  Then Steckel would drive the net and reicve a nice feed from Matt Bradkey which he smacked into the net and beat the goalie for his 8th from Brdley and Aucoin.  Petinger would fir e awrister that hit off a sakte and went in and Jose did not know which way to go.  Mike Green would wrist in an dsocre on the empty net and seal the deal for the Caps and there playoff fate. his 31st unassissted it was a long shot and bounced in.First star Liach seocnd Tsamkos and then Green.  The Rangers currently hold seventh but are tied with Montreal in ints and hold that spot because they have one more win.  †he rangers face Philly in the finale and Montreal will play Pittsburgh and Florida is 2 points back and could get in i think if they hold a tiebreaker and the otehrs lose the play the Caps so anything could happen with who the Caps face.  We'll know the first round matchup as season as the reguslr season ends but this is for sure the Caps wiull have home ice in the second round if they get past the first LET's GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!

O's Errors Lead to Loss

The O's were beat by bad defense on their part today. Brian Bass would have gotten out of an inning allowing one run but that would have been all as he swung a throw to home on a possible inning ending double play wide left and he threw it too hard for such a short distance like he was throwing a pitch and not a soft toss to start the double play that error let in 3 extra runs for the Yanks. Then Ryan Freel bobbled a ball that he should have made but didin't i guess he didn't squeeze the ba;ll at the right time he squeezed early but that let in another two runs when the inning would have been over so real bad defense and costrly ones to bvoot. One positive uke Scott blasted a deep ball over out in left cneter and that ball ewas hit real well. Pie got caught stealing and just after that Moeller doubled so that cost the O's a run also Huff came to bat with the bases packed and swung at ball four so vam 2 runs the O's could have had as they manged only 7 hits and scored twice with 7 hits four runs is managable but 2 will lose u a lot of games. trexiera went deep off starter ALfredo SImon who did p[itch well early but ran into trouble pitched 5 innings and allowd 4 runs and 2 long balls one which Markakis would have caughyt had a fan not gotten to it first and one Jonmes had a chance if he had leaped over the wall but got theer just late it is hard toi judge where exactly the fly ball is going. Bass the 2 innings with the 5 runs given up 3 eraned. Albers a scorless inning and ray got ytouched up in the ninth for 2. Pie got a steakl his fuirst and Roberts a srteal his first Moeller the only double and Scott the dinger so 5 sibngles a double and a homer. SO the Birds win the series and move on tommorow to face Tampa at Camden which should be a good series with Mark hendrickson getting the nod for the opener than i belive Guthrie will pitch because the O's had an off day after the opner so we''ll get a chance to see if Hendisckson can make a good opening impression like Guthriw and Uehara did Simon not bad but certanly not good as he gace up the three than started the six allowing a hit wghich scored.

O's Beat NY Win Series

The Birds go for the sweep in th early day third game because of great starting pitching from Koji Uehara who allowed just 1 run in 5 innings he should have stayed for the sixth i dont know why trembley pulled him. The Birds had a huuge fourth where they put up five and a first where they put up 2 should have been thrree but a stupid base running mistake by Huff took him off the base paths and Mora would single fir nothing. Zaun started the 4th rally with a double that drove scott home and Pie to third. Izturis saced him in then Jones hit a sac fly to get zaun in. Then Markakis would homer deep to right and him and roberts would score oin that long ball. ALbers got out of a jam with a man on third and no outs a line drive snared by Izturis a pop out to huff and then a grounder would end the threat but the Yanks did socre one run that 6th off Albers but he did well not to allow the seocmnd. Then Baez would work scorless seventh and eitgth. Sarfate would get two ealry outs in the ninth but would give up a 2 run shot yto Jeter then a double and he was done. Then Sherill gave up a doublt to Texiera and the scoe would change to 7-5. But Sherill would reocrd the final out next gettin Matsui to pop out and that would be the game with Sherill getting his first svae and uiehara his first MLB win in his first start. Wang allowed seven in 4 2/3 and got fnsihjsd off but that Markakis bomb. O's now 2-0 started very strong and would like to earn a sweep.

Caps Down Atlanta back to back

The Caps swept the home and home impressivley too winning both contests by 2 goals. They started this one real strrong scoring thrice in the first period allowing just one in that frame one in the next and that was all the streong rookie Simeon Varlomov would allow while making 29 saves and the Caps PK not allowing a goal in six tries while the Caps had just one go on the man adavantage an abberviated try lasting only 30 some seocmnds. The refs in this one did not allow the best PP in the NHL to even try silly zebras (Chris Rock Madagascar silly zebra) HAHAHA. Felichamn got the scoring rolling early when he passed behind the goalie through the crease which hit a D sakte and then i think Pothier should have been credited with the goal but in hoiuse ruling was Fleichman's 19th from Pothier and Backstrom. Then Peverley would strike on a break wheer he went baclhand and beat the rookie. Then Kozlov would recive a pretty feed and backhand one past the scrambling goalie for his 13th from Backstrom and Felichamn. Smein would add another when he stole the puck saketed in alone and deked to his bakchande and flipped it in for his 32nd from Ovehckin adn Shcultz.Atlanta would make it 3-2 when resaoner defelcted a salpeper that beta Simeon i beleive five hoal but am not sure. Then Federov would get his own rebound and flip it just past the goal line Ovechkin would seee it on the line and flick it in but it origiamnlly corssed the line when Fedreov shot it the d man whalced it out but it already went in and Ovechkin was jsut making sure but he would not be the scorer Federov's 11th from Ovechkin. AO would just miss an empty net when his wrister defelcted off a skate but he would have loved that because it would have given him a point in the race for most points which is between him and Malkin. Felciman BVakctrom and Hansley the three stars and New Jersey got beat bad by Toronto 4-1 so the Caps need just 1 point or one New Jersey loss to clicnh second which they now have a 4 ponit cushion of and are if they playoofs stared today would face Montreal the Rangers being one point down on them and Montreal trails Pittsburg by three so that matchup copuld change with the two games remaining. O's Hit sabathia hard win opener

The O's were on top of there game today and really hit the ball well racking up 14 hits 3 doubles a triple a long ball and 9 singles. Guthrie pitched well allowing 3 eraned in 6 innings Chris Ray got hit hard on a 2 run dinger from Matsui but Johnson and SHerill pitched scorless 8th and 9th and Sarfate retired two Ray got just the one out. Cezar Izturis rocked one out of the park and into the stands in left off Phil Coke and This one was into the stands where Damon tried to go but home run hungry O's founds got theer hands on it and prevented him from making a great catch. ADam Jones had a two rbi triple and would alter score on a saxc fly by Markakis Jones was 3-3 with two walks Huff had an rbi double bringing home two could have been three but MOras was held at third. Zaun smacked a double as did Roberts and Luke SOctt was the only p[layer not to get a hit he did get and RBI and a couple walks though. Izturis got a steal and Roberts got pickewd off. Teher were 2 questionable calls by the home plate umpire when twice the O's seemed to beat the tag and twice were called out so this game could have been weven more lopsided. Guthrie the winner CC the loserWalker faced a batter who got a hit on him and the O's win. Off day today them Uehara vs Chen Min Wang.LET"S GO O'S!!!!!!!!

Caps Win Home Finale

The Caps Crushed the Thrashers in the thirs scoring 4 golas to there 1 and kept turn them over in the d zone. 6 different players scored for the caps now let's get to the goals.Thomas Felichman picked off a pass with his glove dropped it and shot low far side for the first goal his 18th unassissted. Coby Armstrong would beta Jose low far side later in the first. The a shorty would be scored on a bad pass from AO taken in 2 on 1 and a nice pass found slater who dkeed to his backhand and beat Jose. Then on the PP Ovie would find the puck in tight to the net slip it cross crease to Auicoin who slapped it in his 2nd from Ovechkin Semin and he almost had another but hit the post. Then Kovalchuk would be the recipient of a nice passing play where he would wrist one off theo and in 3-2 Thrahers then the third period which the caps absoluley dominated starting with a goal from Nylander who one timed it top shelf near side his 9th from Laich Fehr. Then Fehr would drive to the net the puck woul;d bounce around the crease and then he would slap it top shelf center his 12th from Nylander and Laich. Then Aucoin would steal the puck feed to Felichamn who deked betwen two defenders and lay the puck off to SMein who deked to his backhand and slipped it in low near side for his 31st from Aucoin and Felichman. Jose would shoot for the empty net but tuned it over to Kozlov in front for an easy one and then it was 5-4 just an airhead play by Theo who didn't hit the puck hard enough butr he wasw getting rushed try around the boards Jose. Then Laich would end it with and emprty net bakchander for his 12th from Bakcstrom AN OVie and 6-4 was your final. Jose 20 saves. Felichambn Aucoin and Nylander the three stars adn the Caps lead 2nd place by 2 points with three games left for both them and New Jersey and the Caps would like 2nd giving themmhome ice for a potnetial second round matchup. Caps Win Southeast Lose in OT

The Caps played a good game but some redirects in front and easy tip ins killed them. Alex Ovechkin started the scoring ona great passing play wehre Kozlov found Laich who dished backhand cross crease to AO who slapped it top shlef center for his 55th.Then Stafford would blast a slapper that might have been tipped in as it beat Varlie low far side. Then Mccarthur scored on an own goal that Kozlov slipped past Varlomov by mistake. Then Semin would control a rebvound and wrist it in his 30th from Ovechkin and Laich. Then Felichman would make a greta play tip a clear attempt to Fedreov who from the center of the sone fired one top corner his 9tyh from Fleichman. Then Fedeorv would slap a whistlet that went five hole for his 10th from OPvechkin and Kozlov. The Xabres would tie it in the third when AFinogonev had a juicy rebound that he slammed hoime ewsily while Varlomv had lost his balanvce and fell. In OT Pmenivuille would skate in alon and shoot five hole to end it. Varlomv did have a spectacluar save or two on a rapwaround he got his stick down and swiped the puck away but did not play great but ill give him credit some of those shots were extremly tough to stop. especuially the rediretcion from Roy which tied it at 3. Varlomov made 25 saves. Ovechkin federov and Sapcek were top stars. Caps face TAlanta at home there home finale there will be more home games though of the playoff variety this one tommorow at 3 p,m. Caps Sweep Islanders

Caps swept NYI and ddi so with a strong second and third periods. They would trail by 2 only to have ovie adn Federov hook up on a sweet goal then Keith Auicoin getting hsi own rebound fore his first ever goal. Okposo got things dtarted when he fired a wrister on the PP and gave the Isles a 1-0 lead . Then what i thoughtw as a kick enede up as a goal for Nielsen 2-0. But Federov would find Ociw in front for a one timer that Ovie shot off the goalie's side and in nice bank shot his 54th from Federov and Green. Then Aucoin would fire a slapper get the rebound and go five hole fro his 1st from Fehr who stole a pass clenaly in the offensive zone. Then Park wopuld skate in on a breakaway afyter the puck was mishandled and deke and bakchand one past Jose 3-2. No worries Mike Green would erase the lead nad then give the Caps the lead for good as on the PP he was found by Smein and Onetimed one middle near side for his 29th from Smein adn Backstrom. Then Green would fire a wrister from the point that might have been defelcted by Fleichman but he getts credit as it sailed high and in for his 30th from Smein adn Baklcstrom. Then Balcstrom would wrist home the empty netter as the Caps stron work on the boards ewnded up with Bakcstrom getting the puck and firing it into the net his 22nd unasissted. Jose made 24 saves and Green Bakcstrom and Isles keepeer Macdonald mad the stars list. The Caps face Buffalo and ATlanta twice then Tampa and Floridanas the regulars eason closes out in FLORIDA. They lead New Jersey by 3 and are currently in second with the hopes of catching Boston are slim down 7 with 10 points elft on the table. Second would be good and thats the best chance the Caps have right now is finishing strong as New Jersey has been struggling and might kep struggling. LET's GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!
