Caps Fall in OT to Boston

This was a game the Caps should have won. They scored first they took the lead back they had marvelous PP chances and late and OT scoring chances but they could only score twice. Mike Green started off the game with a goal after a Caps PP just expired he got the puck high in the zone and fired a slapper that beat Thomas. his 13th assisted by the two ALex Ovie and Semie. Throtnon would answer with adrive to the nigfht and flicked a backhander top shelf and it evened the score. Nylander would recover a puck that Fl;eichman lost driving to the net and slide it past Thomas his 5th assisted by Fleichman and Clark. 2-1 Caps. Then Boston would luckily recover a puck on a pp and find a cross ice pass to an open man converetd to a goal as Savrd would strike the net with the puck and the game would be 2-2 destined for OT when Backstrom would fire a rebound off an Ovie bid right on net but had it had a little lift on it it just might have ended things. Felicghmanand Green and Smein had numerous attempts at one timing the puck home but all would whiff or not ;ift it or hit post. Then Boston would get a PP in Ot so some 4 on 3 not good as Kreicje would throw a pass that bounced off Morrison's skate and deflect hop,me just as Jose had made a great save and the penalty time was dwindling down but only having 3 D is very didfficylt and it was like everyone knew that iff the p[ass could go cross crease someone would ahve a layup. Caps get the point but they would have liked the win and even better had it happened in regulation where they had chances but instead fall to 11 points back of Boston who is top gun in the east and the Caps remian a distant second with a home game vs Detroit coming up. The Caps must score and play great D to beat the West frontrunner as it's Detroit and San Jose are the Bruins and Caps of the West and I think the Caps would fell beating Dwetroit is as big a win as there can be during the regular season.

All Star Skills Competition see Ovechkin Win

All Ovechkin did was win the breakwaya challenge and he did it in superstar fashjion as he took two sticks a outback hat with a Canadien flag on it a squirt of gatorade and skated thre a stick took a left handed shot got his own rebound and fired it in. Zdenon Chara won the hardest shot award breaking fromewr Cap AL IAfrate recod friring it some 105 mph and scome change that's a hard shot. Congardulations OVie The Wiz lost again and now i guess are tryin to lose as they shot greta from deep 60% but had way to many turnover's and seocnd chance points and the refs gavew way too many foul shots to Portland OH WELL as guess the wizards are now just trying to get that top picjk in the upcoming draft they play Phenix at home Monday night.

Caps lose Terps win

Let's start with the bad news the Caps lost a game that looked destined for OT but with about a minute left Bradely blocked a shot that went back to the Senators and Belle shot the puck low and in past Theodore and it happened so fast that Jose looked helpless on the shot. The first period had to Sens goals as Hatley proved he could score on the PP and he did so twice one was a gimme as erskine knocked a Sen into Theopdore who could not recover in time and Heatley scored. Then he tried to pass but it defelcted off Shultz and beat a helpless Theodore. The best chance to stop a goal was Theo's last attempt but I don't think he expected the puck top go right back to Belle who beta him clean. The Caps tied it in the second with 2 of there own Semin skated deep and then dished to Fedoreov who was in the high slot and fired a one time slapper past eliott his 5th assisted by Smein. Then Dteckel would get a great pass right in front and tip the pass in for his 6th of the year the great pass came from Fleichmann and the other assist was the Casptain Clark. But late in thirs the ens would get the game winner and it was there third PP gaol of the night with onl;y six seconds reamining on that PP and Bradley's failed clear attempt was costly although he did block the first atte,mpt from Belle but the puck came right back and was slapped past Jose who did not kick the low shot but threw his arms and body at it he just needed to use his legs. All star break for a week fopr the Nhl and Ovechkin is playing in the game and the skills competition. The Terps beat UVA avenging a football loss to that school 84-78 and that evens their record to 2-2 in ACC play. Landomn Mil;bopurne had 17 as did Adrian Bowie. VaZQUEZ HAD 16 and got off the slide that has plagued him the last four. Hayes 10 and Neal 8 Greogory had 8 Mosley four and Dupree 4 Milbourne led the Terps in boards with 5 and I still think they need a qaulity big man as Dupree has not been shootimng well adn needs to work on his Offense. Hayes led the Terps in assisits with 11 and the Terps shot the ball well shooiting 53.7 % and 50% from beyond the arc. The highlight for the Terps was Milbourne taking it to the whole and dunking over one of the Cavs which the Terps really needed at that time as UVA was mounting a comeback. I just wish the Caps could have at least got their game into OT because they are really good in the extra period but hey they are still the best in the SOutheast but do have some work to do tro catch Boston who they are 2-0 against this season.

Casp win again streak now at 3 staright W's

The Caps beat the best now they beat the worst of the East beating the Ny islanders 2-1 in OT. Ovechkin started the scoring with a one time slapper past Denis 5 hole right through the wickets his 30th assited by Green and Laich. It would rmian 1-0 until lagte in the thirs hwen the Islanders recived almost a 2 minute 5-3 and they would acapitalize tie it on that gift from the refs and a clear that sailed over the boasr buy AO that rseult in the extended PP. But in Ot the Caps would go on the PP where Alex Ovechkin the Great would trike on another PP when Semin got a pass drove to the net and then dished coros s creas epast Denis right past his legs to Ao who hit the net on the game winner oin OT easy finisgh on a great feed his 31st assited by Smein and Federov who fed semnjn nickley. First star Ovie second Okposo and third Thoedore who was very close to getting the SO as he amde 27 saves 2-4 on the PP for the Caps 1-5 for ZNY Caps play Ottawa tommorow and are looking to start another extended winning stareak trying for four tommoprow.

Orioles deal Olson for Cubs Prospect

The O's gave up on Olson who was not pitched well the guy's got an Era in the high sixes and for every good performance he gave he had a couple bad ones. They got a player who may now start in the outfoild for them and give the Dh spot to Luke Soxctt and first base to Huff. Mcphail O's Gm said this about the move it gives us great defense in the outfield it's like having three center fielders. Felix Pie batted 299 in his career in the minors and Montanzes impressed me alst season so it may be a toss up to see who starts between those 2. Koji uehara a japanese player signed with the O's as a right starting pitcher the one thing i didn't like aboput that move is that the guy i alsreayd 32 and he makes between 5 and 8 mil with incentives. Hopefully he pitches great and gets run support. Him and Guthrie should be top of the roration while people l;ike Liz and Wtaers and others vie for reemaining spots. I think the OI's shouild be much improved but we must wait til APril to see if they can contend in the troughest didivsion in baseball which is that much tougher wiythj the emergewnce of that young rays team getting to the series and of course top spenders like Bopston and Ny and the Blue Jays who aren't terrible.

Caps beat BOSTON again 2-1

Casp are now 2-0 vs the best and the East is what they are trying to win. Well tonight's win is a good way to try and do it but 2nd in the conference ain't bad and either two spots are very good but first is what the Caps are striving for. The scoring got started on he Bruins PP when an inital save was made bounced out to Savard and before Theodor could regian composure feet and balance he fired it into the v acated net. Just 70 seconds alter teh Caps would tie things up on a pp of there own. Nylander took the puck in deep and then fired a pass cross ice to Green as he made a run and the pass hit him and he drove it and fired top shelf and beat Thomas who has a great GAA. It wasn't a one timer it was just a pause by Mike before he decided what and where do to with the puck and he scored his 12th asssietd by Nylaner and Laich. Then in the third Alex Swemin would make a spectuclar play. Boston had a great chance after a bpotched pass by Jurcuna was al most set up in a 2 on 1 but Jurcina recovered and dived / pokechecked the puck back to ht e blue line when Semin stole the puck from the D man and drove up ice speldidly keeping control of the puck and skating past defense until he made a few strides past the blue line and wound up for a slapper that just whizzed flew past Thomas top shelf beatting him glove side similary to Green and Laiughlin kind of berated Thomas glove work hey he only gave up the two LLau=ghlin and he somehow got the third star when Theodore was snubbed. Seimn got first star and Caps D man Jogn Erskine got awarded seocnd star for big hits and defending a open net on Boston's best schance in the first her he saved a goal. theo had 23 saves and gave up just the one goal and made some great saves Yup. Way to go Caps you are now trying for furst in the East and have outplayed Boston twice this year and have a large lead in the Osutheast Division. Keep Going and keep winning and show you are good enough to be considered the top Cup Contender just like Detroit San Jose and Boston.

Caps win big 6-3 over Penguins Hoyas beat Cuse Terps fall

Usually with the teams I follow or at l;east in the last two instances when all these three played Terps and Hoyas won while the Casp lost this time Gerotoen gets a huge victory they won by a lot the Casp stop a three game slide never lost four in a row under old Bruce with a huge comeback bid but the Terps blow an enormous lead aginst Miami and its Canes. Gtown 12th beat 8 Cuse by 14 88-74 and beat them bad Dajuan Summers was big with 21 4 boards 3 disahes (I kmnow it;s early but the WIz seemingly are gettin one of the top picks this year and might look at a Monroe or Summers from Gtown although neuther are seniors and might return although i don't think the Wiz need much help) Monroe had 10 7 boards six dishes such a good passer from the block or post Freeman had 19 and a remarkable 4 point play after he hit a three and was fouled freeman was 4-5 from deep Calrk had a career high 12 off the ebcnh and is looking like a player that will play even better when given more minutes which usuaully happens for college players as others leave for the draft or garduate. Wright had 7 3-4 1-2 deep and Sapp was well Sapp as he had 2 on 1-4 shooting I don't want berate the guy cuz ive seen him play really well some games but latley he needs a berating Wattad hit a big three off the ebnch and Nikita something or other had 6 ponits on 2-2 Vaughn contribuytes with 5 and i'm seeing good play from him off the ebcnh Hoyas 12-21 deep shot 59.3 % and crushed Syarcuse by a good margin and this does rank as a quality win over a good oponent. Gtown just needs to beat Pitt next time they meet and they might lock up a number1 seed come March Madness. Now the Caps game was just as good as the Hoyas. The Caps tarile after Malkin whiiped a slapper from the point on th PP to give the Pens a one zip l;ead. But the Caps would answer right back when Kozlov balsted a one timer off the glove of Fleury and in his 10th now the seventh Cap with ten or more leads the elague and was assisetd by none other than marvelous point man Nik Backstrom. with things all tied the Pens got a lucky rebound right to Satan who had a wide open net to shoot at and didn't miss as Jose tried to lunge himself into popsition again. 2-1 but the Caps would answer right back again when Semin recieved a great cross crease pass compliments of Federov and slam a one timer top shelf to tie things at two his 17th assisted by Fedorv and Fleichman. Than in the 3rd the Caps would break through on a PP when Ovechkin tried to get a pass fro a good shot an most likely a goal but it defelcted off a D's skate and then off the pads of the gaolie so on his firts whack AO got nothing but the second time the puck was tehre and slipped in the shot on th e PP to gice the Caps a 3-2 edge his 28th assisted by Laich and Backstrom. This time the ZPens would answer right back Ryan Whitney balstd a ponit shot top shelf acroos from theodore who was late and not efforted enough as the shot whizzed past him and in 3-3. But Feklchman would get the game winer on another PP fro the Caps who after Ovechkin balsted a shot from the point the rebound would be juicy only for less than a second but that was enough time for Thomas Flash Fleichman (tha;ts his nickname andu full name) to throw his stick and body at the pack and hit nolthing but net his 15th from Ovehckin and Bakcstrom. Ovechkin AO the great would then throw a great pass trying to hit Bakcstrom for the onetimer and i thought that's what happened but it turns out a D man was in the way it hit his skate and defelcted in actually at firt i thought Ovechklin jsut trhew a great shot into the net but turns out it was a pass and that it was actually of a Pen's skate but it went in none the less. OVie 29th assisted by Green tha;ts Mike Game Over Green for last year's knack for shooting goals in OT. 5-3 Caps. Jeff Shulz would fire a really long slapper all the way into the empry net shorthanded none the less and that would be all the scoring his 1st assisied by Laich. 6-3 was the final and the Caps really needed it. Theodore made 26 saves and won and allowed three which all would have been greta saves had he padded down the puck and threee of the times. I'm trying to think if he made asome really good saves and i don't know for sure but I think he did. didhe yeah he did on some breakawyas an onetimers. Bakcstrom had 3 assists and was 2nd star AO was first as Ovechkin did have 2 goals and an asssits and Sidney Crosby or SId the Kid i'm just giving everyoen nickname or misnomer. was third star. The Caps next face off with Boston the only team they trail in the East and who they beat the fit=rst time 3-1. That would be a nice win also. The Terps fell ebcause all miamin did was hoot threes the wghole time cuz theyw ere down so much and eneded up making i'd say half so booooo Canes you took afdavabnteafe of thr 3 ball toinght that fianl was 62-60 as Vazwquez jsut missed a 3 as time expired Bowie had a great game with 23 and some greta driivng left handed layins the Terps just need a big man because they can't seem to rebound with Neal and Milbourne. maybe Dupree needs more time to show he can go glass and i mean that he needs to get boards not bank shots.

Maryland Gerogetown wins Caps lose

the Terps handeld Georgia Tech in a close one 68-61 as they gained the lead at the end. Hayes got hot at the end hitting a big three and a driving layup he had 17. vazquez had 16 Mosely 10 and Bowie 11 Milbourne 6 Neal 8 Milbourne had 9 boards and Vazquez led in dimes with 6. Good way to start ACC play for the Terps. Hoyas also won beating a Providence team with an impressive record 82-75. Hoyas had a huge run in the second half where they led by as much as 16 the Friars made a run where a layup could have cut the elad to one but it was defended well and Monroe caught an outley where he moved in for the basiclaly game winning dunk. Summers had foul trouble picking up his 4th early but finished with 12 and 5. Monrope had 13 with a marvelous dunk and 1 and 11 boards Wright 16 freeman 18 Sapp 8 Clark 10 and Sims 5 Monroe had the most asssists 8. Then the Caps fell 5-4 on a last minute goal ahere Jurcina could not control a pass and a Canadien took it to the net and beat Johnson. Smein scored the first Caps goal on a great defelction his 15th assisted by SLoan and Green. Semin scored the 2nd gaol as well stealing the puck deep in Candiens territory and firing top shelf to after agreta liftcheck his 16th unassisted. Fleichman had the third on some great passing where he eneded with the pucjk close to the net and fired it in his 13th assisted by Nylander and Bradley. Then Ovechkin fired a slapper that defelected off of Nylabnder's skate and in Nylander's 4th assisted by Ovechkin amnd Green Caps next face Edmonton

Columbus beats Caps stoops win streak

Well the Caps lost after seven in a row wins and they have a game troday vs Montreal. WHo will be in net Jose or Brent. Who will be on the top line Kozlov or Smein. Why did Columbus blank the Caps in there only 2 meetings trhis season. Is Mason who had 45 stops that good or is this just a fad. Semin rang one off the post. Jose was stick tripped on CBJ first goal and screened on the second which was a weel placed shot from the point. the third was a rebound gaol after Brashear was assesed a double minor. Things did not go right. Ovehckin had a good chance but pushed it wideon a rebound that took a long time to shoot. Steckel off the post on a rebound and Smein close range rang one off the post. That had good oppurtunities but could not score not even once. I thiink they will be very agreesive tonight and score a few after that shutout and i think they will start a new wiinning streak that could last a long tim emaybe into the ALl star break. Let's go Caps start another string of consecutive wins beacsue you are one of the best in the league don't fall off now

Caps beat Philly in OTSO

This game was not long scorless as Semin trhew a puck in front of the net where Backstrom recovered it and slipped past Biron who was going the other way to try and stop a wraparound on the PP his (12th) assisited by Semin and Kozlov. That gave the Cpas the lead until the thirs where Coburn on a Philly PP got a pass after Philly won the draw and shot the puck top shelf as a Flyer screened Theodore in front just a well placed shot. Nylander had a good oppurtunity but a sl,ldiding Philly D slid in front of the open net and stopped Nylander who would have scored otherwise. Philly had a brekaway but Jose made the stop. OT would go scorelss and first man to shoot try the shootout who be Kozlov who deked to his backhand with nothing on the other side open and went top shelf with it. Ovechkin adn Smien would be stopped but Jose did the rest stopping Gangne Richards and Caret and sealing the deal for the Caps a seventh staright win 18-1-1 at home a greta record and finally revenge against Philly who knocked them out of the playofffs and drubbed them 7-1 in the first meeting. The Caps loved beating Philly tonightand improving one of the league's best records and be the best hoem team in hockey. What more can you ask for catching the Bruins and taking the best record in hockey after the season's done for the Caps who would love to have the most points when the season's 82 game regualr part is over. Jose First star 33 saves Kozlov the game winner in the SO 2nd star great goal and Biron the third who played well just not as good as Thjodre and i don't think anyone has been that good the pas five games to be better thhn Jose who is now solidifying himselfd as the number one goalie here in Washington. Caps keep winning 3 in a row over NY Rabgers

The Caps can't help it. WHen they get little offebnse they get great golatending and when they get not so good goalie play they score a bunch of goals and win you can't beat that formula and that's just what they'll need against Philly to keep this winning streak going it's now atr six. P{rucha scored the Rangers team only gaol in the second after he tipped in a pass past Theodore who played great. The Caps would answer on a PP goal by high scoring D man Mike Green on a greta feed from the rSmein. Mike's (10th) assisted bySemin and Kopzlov. Then Alexandre the great would score late in the 2nd shorthanded after bluffing a slapper then skatibng forward and firing a wrister past Valiquette who had sopme greta saves in this one or it would have beenn all Caps Ovechkin's (27th) assite by Steckel. Caps win 2-1 Theodore does the job well stopping 21 shots pucks and Ovechkin is top star Steckel second and Stall from NY is third nuff said as Caps win again and are playing lights out and nothuiing would be better than smashing Philly who really offensivley took control last meeting getting the Caps there only really bad loss of the seaon alll losses are bad but 7-1 vs Philly really made a lot of peiples gere in DC mad and the Caps only have one thing hnow on there mind revenge for that game plus the playoffs and another home win in beating up Philly. That game;'s tommprpw at 7:00 and the Caps would love a W believe me.

Caps Stretch Win STreak to 5 again

Caps just beat up on southeast rival Tampa and they led big early and late. The Caps answwerd Philly 7 goal output in winnig this 7-4 so that's just saying that this offense can produce with the best of em. Let's give you the goal info. Starting things off for the Caps was a goal by Sean Collins first of his career like ALzner and Bourque assisted by OIvechkin and Morrison a wrister that slipped through the pads. 1-0 Caps lead. The Caps scored again this time a great cross ice pass from Bradley that hit STeckel's stick and Steckel through in the net more like a tap in his (5th) assisted by Bradley and Jurcina. The Caps would make it 3-0 late in the firts on a pas from Ovechkin to Mike Green he fired one high up and beat Smith. Score after 1 period Caps 3 Tampa 0 and Brent Johnson playing well but has been on the bench alot recently. Tampa would make it 3-1 on an odd man rush Vincent scores. Then it would become 3-2 on another odd man rush Malone nets one. But the Caps would score and make it 4-2 when Gordon got the puck behind the net after stealing it from the goalie and backhanding a pass to Bradley who backhanded one in befofre the goalie could get back in net his (4th) assisted by Gordon. Lecavlier would socre again and it would be 4-3 heading to the 3rd wghich hte Caps dom ianted. Boyd Gorodn would take a pass that gaolie SMith whifffed slash shanked and would fire it home into the vacated net and make things 5-3 his (5th) unassissted. Then Rechhi fired a slapper past Johnson 5-4. But then Cal;rk would be on a break with Nylander and Mike backhanded a pass to him that Calrk one timed to the back of the net 6-4 his (1st) of the year assisted by Nylander and Green. Ovechkin would score late in the 3rd on a mean shot that went 5 hole ebtween the legs after AO had gotten close eneouggh and had alane to fire his shot hjis ( 26th) assisted by backstrom that would be the alst tally and the final in favor of the caps was 7-4. Joihsnon made 23 saves and Bradley Clark and Lecalvier were the stars. Caps streaking Baby Yeah
